Anniversary Part 1: The One With The Scary Homeless Guy

Wednesday, July 1, 2015
Last weekend was our second annivesary, yay! We decided that it doesn't really feel weird to have been married for two years. It just feels like a normal thing. Kind of like drinking hot chocolate in the winter and eating popsicles in the summer. We're just like, cool with it, ya know?

Friday night we had a scooter picnic! I finally used all the points I've been hoarding on my Subway card haha.

ON SATURDAY WE FINALLY TRIED ZAO AND I'M IN LOVE, I'M IN LOVE, AND I DON'T CARE WHO KNOWS IT.

Their peas were SO GOOD and SO CRUNCHY. Also I loved their tofu, which is saying something because I'm picky about tofu. They also had organic sodas (!!!!!!) that were fun to try. We definitely recommend it.

After shopping we stopped by Deseret Book for a candy bag! I laughed at my mom when she made me go there with her, but now look at me! Going there myself! Like mother like daughter, I guess. Anyway, go there because you can fill up a bag of candy for $5. It's the Deseret Book by H&M at City Creek.

We swam and then went to Coffee Garden to visit my friend. They buy their milk local! Naturally we had to try some and it was delicious. So, also go there if you like hip coffee shops with delicious items.

Hair in bun with no hair tie!

We went to Spitz and it was SO GOOD. Both of our favorite place we ate :) Also, in Jemily (what we decided to call our language) "donner" means "dinner" and they have something called "döners" at Spitz. It's not pronounced the same but we kept saying we were having donner for donner and it was awesome.

ALSO. We were sitting in the window eating here and a homeless man walked by. I'm no psychiatrist but he looked like he could have been a paranoid schizophrenic or something. He kept aiming guns at cars and talking to imaginary people shorter than him. I was watching him just because he was there. He looked up at me and I held eye contact. WELL. LESSON LEARNED. NEVER HOLD EYE CONTACT WITH PEOPLE WHO HAVE JUST BEEN SHOOTING FAKE GUNS AT CARS. He started yelling at me through the window and like, charging it and stuff. Needless to say it scared the crap out of me! I was shaking!!! Jake told me to pretend to have a conversation with him until the homeless guy went away and I did. The homeless guy went away and I was like, a nervous wreck haha. It just scared me because he was so angry and violent! I thought he was going to come in there and murder me or something! Plus I don't know what he was struggling with, so I kept thinking he thought I was like a devil or something like that. I don't know. But it scared me SO BAD.

We left and I was checking around every corner on the way to the car. Then, the next morning we were walking to breakfast. There was a guy sleeping on the bench we had just passed and it was HIM. He got up right after we walked by and I about peed my pants waiting for the crosswalk to change to go. I freaking ran across that thing like there was no tomorrow and checked behind my shoulder every five feet ha! You could say I'm a little bit of a scaredy cat!!!

Anyway. I have to have chocolate every day thanks to working at the chocolate factory. So we decided to try Hatch Family Chocolates! I really wanted chocolate raspberries from Bear Lake (where we were originally going to go for our anniversary but I missed all the good reservations, whomp whomp) so I was super happy to try them from here! They were pretty good, but I'm not going to lie: I like chocolate covered strawberries better.

I also got a chocolate covered banana because I read somewhere theirs are supposed to be super good! It was delish and I would definitely get one every day if it were closer to my house.

I saw this on Pinterest and wanted to try it. I didn't really do anything or taste different, but it did look cool! I think on Pinterest it's champagne, instead of sparkling cider, so any champagne drinking friends out there will have to try this and let me know if it does anything cool!

Day 2 coming tomorrow!

The One With All The Cleavage

Tuesday, June 30, 2015

I love making videos ha. Thanks for giving me an excuse to make one and for giving me something to do with all my time, Leah. I nominate Beverly, Riley, Laura, Kiely, Jovanna, (and whoever else wants to make one) to make a post/video/whatever telling 10 things their friends might now know about them.! :)

XOXO

P.S. Sorry for the cleavage. Also, sorry for my constant jumping of subjects. I started to edit it so it would flow coherently, but this is how I actually talk so I decided to just leave it lol!

A Happy List: 72

Monday, June 29, 2015
I kind of want to start titling my posts like Friend's episodes. So, let's pretend this one is called "The One Where Everyone Thought They Were Naked."

So, I posted this picture on Instagram and people were having mini heart attacks because they thought we were naked hahaha. You can see my pajama shorts and Jake's shirt if you look close enough, but the thought that people thought I (of all people) would post a picture naked in bed has me rolling hahahahaha. I guess I had an unfortunate clothing choice of a pajama short/tank top set. LOLOLOLOL. / Three story park. / When we ride the scooter past someone's sprinklers and I get a little mist in my face. / Swimming in Jake's aunt's pool (She's the nicest!!!). / When Trixie is a rag doll. / SPITZ. So good. / Exploring the other side of the lake at Tibble Fork. / My mom telling me I can reorganize her iPhoto library. / Getting a free chocolate milk. / Getting to spend all weekend with my best friend!!!!!!

There were many funny things said this weekend, but I didn't keep track. Anyway, it was a good week and we had so much fun on our little anniversary vacation!

Strawberry Baes

Tuesday, June 23, 2015
We finally went to Strawberry Days! (See what I did there?) We were basically there for the sole purpose of getting strawberries and cream and it did NOT disappoint.

Also, I was putting together our San Francisco photo book the other day (don't let your pictures die as jpegs!!!!) and I realized that most of my pictures are of things. It's not necessarily bad, but just boring? Like I was looking through them and my favorite pictures were the ones that had all of us in them, or at least ones that had someone. I just feel really awkward being in pictures. And asking Jake to take pictures of me. And asking strangers to take pictures of me and Jake. BUT THOSE ARE THE BEST/MOST INTERESTING/CUTEST. So, I decided I just need to grow some lady balls and do it.

So, alas. Here we are at Strawberry Days. You can expect to see more pictures of us WITH things, instead of just the things. I'm excited. I'm pretty sure my kids are going to be like, "Ok nice pizza, but what did you look like back then? Did you wear ______ (whatever bad trend is happening today that we won't know about until the future)?" So, even though it's awkward I want to be able to look back on pictures and see what we were like! And make fun of what we were wearing and my hair and whatever else it is that people regret when they look back on old pictures of themselves.

Anyway, that was a tangent, but it's just been something I've been thinking about lately. So, yay! I'm excited for this new goal!

I usually don't post pictures of my family on here, but their faces are hidden so I'm doing it. Look at how cute my niece was haha. Her little hat! I can't get over it. Also she keeps using her middle finger to point to things instead of her pointer finger and it's the funniest thing ever. I don't know what she's doing in this picture but look at her middle finger! Ha!

Finally getting my shower fixed and being able to use it again. I love my bathroom more than the other bathroms in the house. / A lady walked by me at the mall and there was a little tiny dog sticking its head out of her purse, just so casually. / Seeing a social experiment in person. / Waking up when the sun has just barely come over the mountains. / Driving with the top down. / Finally watching The Duff. / Scooter rides at dusk. / The guy with the shiny jacket at John Butler Trio. / Seeing a Banksy piece in real life. / My niece putting Saltine crackers in my hair.

Here are some funny things people said this week:

My niece was swimming in one of those little kiddie pools you get from Wal-Mart and my sister was like, "I wish they had a bigger one of these." My mom said, "Why? For you?!" LOL.

Me: "Oh! You're shirtless!"
Jake: "Shirtless in Seattle."

Here are some internet things to make you happy. These food arrangements are so beautiful. / This dog in a bed makes me so happy. / This pygmy hippo swimming is the cutest thing.

I'm Forgetting Everything!

Wednesday, June 17, 2015
Hi.

Ok, so the main point of this post is that eShakti redid their site and it's crazy amazing with lots of cute things and they wanted to give you guys $35 off your order! So, enter "thelittlediary35" to get a discount and treat yo'self BUT HURRY BECAUSE IT WILL EXPIRE ON SUNDAY.

Here are my favorite things. All of which will cost you less than $10 because of the code! So, get to it!

(Find them here, here, and here.)

The second point of this post is that I have been forgetting everything lately! So, here's what happened. I am trying out this eyelash growth serum and so I haven't been wearing eye makeup. I'm going to try to go for a month (minus special occassion days) without eyemakeup and see if my eyelashes have grown or not! Ok, so with that being that I still want to wear a little something which is where my favorite red lipstick comes in. When I don't wear eyemakeup I usually will still wear lipstick or something, just so you know, it actually looks like I put some effort into getting ready.

HOWEVER I LOST MY LIPSTICK. You guys, I have NO idea where it is!!! I have seriously looked everywhere. I wanted to take new pictures in my skirt for this post but I couldn't find my lipstick so I waited and then forgot to post this! Ha! Anyway, I ordered a new tube and it should be here any day.

Hopefully this one lasts me! I bought one last May, lost it, bought a new one, then lost it last week, and now I'm buying another. Worst. Maybe one day in the future there will be like, little tracking things you can put on your favorite items so you can't lose them!

I decided to try some new editing techniques on this picture that the lovely Mila took for us on our last anniversary! We didn't get pictures this year in time, so I'm thinking maybe I'll try to take a few with a tripod, so wish me luck!

P.S. If you're wondering why the code is "thelittlediary" it's because that's what my blog name used to be. This blog has had many, MANY, names haha. I think I'll be satisfied with what it is now for a while though.

(This is me with my friend who looks exactly like Zooey Deschanel and is also whose wedding I photographed!)

When people I know visit me or accidentally come into my work. / When Trixie positions herself on her bed so she can sleep directly facing me... and then watches me until she falls asleep. / These people were outside my work giving away hugs, stickers, and balloons! They were blowing bubbles everywhere and writing positive messages on the ground in sidewalk chalk "just because". / When Barefoot Blonde emailed me back (!!) and had a really good response to what I said. / The LOL gifts my father-in-law got for his 50th birthday. / Hearing stories about my niece being mean to my mom and sister haha. I probably shouldn't laugh at her half as much as I do, but little kids being sassy is a weak spot for me. I assume I'll get over it fast when it's my own kids who are being sassy. / Miniature bottles of Martenelli's. I call them a "party for one". / Finally getting some cute stationary and post cards for snail mail with Autumn! / The way the world smells after it rains. / Jake giving me a foot massage.

- - - - -

Here are some funny things people said this week:

I was talking to a lady I met while walking Trixie about how people spend so much money to keep their animals alive. She said, "I know, you just do it though. You do it because they're just little people. Little people with coats."

(My mom was gardening.)
Me: "How's your ho?"
My mom: "You think your so funny! This is a true ho Emily, not the kind you guys say!"

- - - - -

Here are some internet things to make you happy. / Ok so these are technically "sad animal facts" but they made me laugh so I'm including them! / Ok newborn bunnies! You win! / My friend's Boston apartment is actually the most perfect thing in the world. / I love this shoot for so many reasons. First of all, I love Jaci Marie Photography. Second of all, I love Lucky Blue Smith and Pyper America. Third of all, I love that they are siblings. Fourth of all, the styling is perfect.

Trixie In Park Heaven

Tuesday, June 9, 2015
Ok so I just want to start this post off by saying I LOVE the Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8G ED AF-S Nikkor Wide Angle Zoom Lens. You guys... it's seriously amazing. It will definitely be the next lens I purchase! I rented it for a wedding I photographed and got to keep it over the weekend. We went on a picnic on Sunday, so I brought it along and WOW. I fell in love with it even more! You can rent it from Allen's Camera for like $35 a day, so if you're into photography definitely go check it out to experience ultimate awesomeness and GORGEOUS pictures.

Anyway, on to the real post. So, Chewy was nice enough to send Trixie some Backcountry 96% beef canned dog food this month! Since she is so old (15 years!) I've noticed she doesn't like hard things as much as she used to. She will still eat them, but it just takes her longer than it did when she was a young pup. She will take like one dog food at a time instead of multiple ha! So, I'm excited to spoil her with soft dog food for dinner this month!

I was showing the lens to my sister and she took this of me. I'm so photogenic. I know haha. But also my hair is on day 7 in this picture, and I am v proud that it can go 7 days without being washed and not be the grossest thing on all earth. I mean, it's pretty gross (hence the hat) but not the grossest, ya know?

Trixie enjoying her dog food! I gave her the whole can and she couldn't even eat it all haha. So, needless to say, she will be able to have a delicious dinner every day this month at that rate!

Jake found a "big person swing" on the playground hahahaha. I seriously crack up just looking at this picture. He pushed me in it and I totally freaked out! I'm not a roller coaster person and for some reason the swing made me feel EXACTLY like I was on a roller coaster. My brother-in-law said my sister did the exact same thing, so at least I'm not alone haha!

Ok, LOOK AT HER FACE. You guys, she was in HEAVEN. Like, she was just running around the park, laying in different patches of shade, rolling around and loving life! I think we wiped her out because for the rest of the day she just slept! Anyway, she is the queen and we are obsessed with her!

Special thanks to Chewy for being the best ever and sending Trix some delicious food! She is really in heaven these days with all her treats!

Banburry cross donuts!

Meeting a new friend, Jovanna! Thanks again for second shooting with me!

Jake = the cutest bb.

- - - - -

Finally getting a double sleeping bag! / Jake putting Trixie on me every morning before he leaves. / The rain on Friday morning. / The cute baby that came up and said "hi" to me on my break. / Watching fireworks from the car and the smiley face firework. / People's reactions to when I said 9-person sleeping bag instead of 9-person tent. Lol. / The drive to Sundance. / Everything about my friend's wedding and photographing it. / Going to dinner with my inlaws. / Listening to The Early November while driving home at night in the rain.

- - - - -

Here are some funny things people said this week.

Jake (while laying in our double sleeping bag): "Let's try out our sleeping positions! Assume Position!"

Riley (while talking about how she was confused about the 9-person sleeping bag): "I was like A.) I don't even have 9 people in my life I like, let alone want to sleep next to all zipped up. B.) What." I was seriously crying laughing so hard at our texting conversation.

So, I got home from work really late at night and was cooking dinner. I turned on the oven to preheat and heard something weird. I opened the door and the oven was on fire! Like, there were literal flames! I started yelling, "Mom! Mom!!!!! There's a fire in the oven!!!" and she was there in literally like 5 seconds. She looked at it for a second and then was like, "It's fine." and goes back to bed!! I was so confused but I guess something had just fallen to the floor and caught on fire? Anyway, she was like, "I can't believe you pulled me out of such a deep sleep!" Like, she went from being in her room in a deep sleep to being in the kitchen in literally probably like 5 second. Sooooo funny.

Ok, so I was talking to my mom on the phone and she told me she had come to see me at work a few days ago, but the shop was closed. So she just stood by the windows watching me, then took a picture, and then left! She was like, "I don't know why I did that!!! And I've been meaning to tell you but I haven't seen you for a few days!"

Jake: "Ok are we in the eighteenth century? I mean why don't they have lights on the freeway ya know?"

- - - - -

Here are some internet things to make you happy. I love this quote by Ghandi. / I am obsessed with mini horses now. / These elderly people doing street art are amazing. / This sloth getting a belly rub is my favorite thing. / Ok sorry for the scandolous pictures of Kim Kardashian, but this pug recreating them is SO FUNNY. People are the best. /
