TIS THE SEASON

Tuesday, May 16, 2017
This shop/post has been compensated by Collective Bias, INC. and The Coca-Cola Company, all opinions are mine alone. #PlayPauseRefresh #CollectiveBias

TIS THE SEASON FOR THE BEST T.V. SHOWS. I swear to you, there are SO many good movies and shows out right now. Our weekends are basically spent catching up on our favorite shows with some treats. With how crazy school is right now, I'm definitely not complaining about the chill nights!

vitaminwater is my go to Coca-Cola product. I always get the orange flavor because it's just so. dang. good. Just yesterday I discovered there is a strawberry lemonade flavor and it is AMAZING.

Enter the Coca-Cola sweepstakes here! You just need to:

1. Grab your fave Coca-Cola beverage and schedule your T.V. night.
2. Take a photo of how you enjoy Coca-Cola during T.V. night. (Make sure the program you are watching stays on your TV, but out of your photo.)
3. Share your photo on Twitter or Instagram with both #programyournight and #sweepstakes for a chance to win cool prizes!

Anyway, here's a lil' recipe for your next T.V. night! Buttered ranch popcorn (I may have munched on this while my camera charged because it was too good to wait for, so that's why it looks slightly depleted in the picture lol.)

Step 1: Pop some popcorn and grab a packet of ranch.
Step 2: Melt 4 tbsp of butter and pour it over your popcorn. Sprinkle the ranch and mix well.
Step 3: Enjoy!

It's super easy to make, but way better than regular popcorn! At least I think so :).

V good opportunity to use my macro lens filters lol. Look at that buttery ranch popcorn goodness.

THE TRUE HEROES. I get a vitaminwater every Tuesday for the train home from school. They just have such a good flavor that doesn't leave me feeling too heavy? I don't know how to explain it, but I am a fan.

If you have any good T.V. show recommendations, plz let me know!

I have been working on improving my product photography, so I put together an easy little Valentine's Day gift for those bath lovers in your life lol.

This heart tissue paper is at Target right now and so cute!

I have a hard time actually using mine because they are so cute hahah. I just want like 10 in a container for decoration!

Anyway, I hope you guys have big plans! I will be in New York City for school alllllll day so I'm thinking we probably will be doing nothing. Dun dun dunnnnn. J claims he has something planned but I'm like "???? Every where will be closed by the time I get back to Connecticut?" So, we'll see!

DIY Polaroid Memory Box

Friday, January 27, 2017

This DIY is super easy and quick!  Plus, it makes such a cute gift for Valentine’s Day, or any special occasion!

This is a cute, functional way to showcase all your favorite memories over the years through a unique memory box. Simply pull the tab and watch all your favorite memories unravel before your eyes.

I got this wooden crate at Michael's for $1. I painted it white because I want it to be timeless, but any color would look good. I chose gray cardstock and cut it into strips slightly wider than my Polaroid photos. I glued the strips together with super glue and folded them accordion style. I added a little ribbon to the top of the pullout for easier access. Lastly, I peeled the backs off the Polaroid photos and stuck them to the cardstock. And that was it!

I got the cutest gold and pink tissue paper at Target and used it as wrapping. I think it turned out really cute and festive!

Valentine's Gift Guide For Men

Wednesday, January 18, 2017
WHY ARE MEN THE WORST TO SHOP FOR! I feel like anything and everything they want is like $1,000 lol. #worst. Anyway, I really like making these collages now lol. I couldn't find any number graphics so I had to make these myself, but I think they turned out ok.

One / J is probably so sick of getting ties, but they are such an easy gift and look so good lol. I swear guys wearing suits look literally 3x better than they normally do. What's the girl equivalent for that? Make up maybe?

Two / I just got J this sushi roller and it is AMAZING. He loves making sushi but it's so hard to roll it and make it look good. This opens up and you load it up with your rice and fillings, close, and then push it out like a push pop. Then you can lie to everyone and say you rolled the sushi on your own and they will think you are a chef.

Three / Lovely Beards sent us some organic beard oil the other day and I love it! It would especially be nice if your guy has like a beard beard. It just smells nice. I feel like it's the Moroccan oil for beards haha. PLUS THAT PACKAGING. #typographygoals

Four / J NEEDS more sweats agh. Sweats are hard for me to buy because I feel like they are a waste of money? But they are so important to have lol. Primark is gold as always for stuff like this. I will honestly be so sad when/if we don't live near a by a Primark.

Five / I found the coolest motorcycle jackets on BikeBandit.com. I feel like half the fun of having a motorcycle is looking fine AF when you ride it. Like if you're just going to wear noob clothes what's the point? LEATHER IT UP.

Six / OK I HAD TO ADD THIS FOR MYSELF I'M SORRY. They had such cute motorcycle jackets for women and my goal is to be a hot biker chick so ya know.

Seven / J also has this natural beard balm and it's like a pomade for his beard. Also very beautiful packaging.

Eight / Does walking barefoot in the house gross anyone else out? Ugh nothing is worse than getting a little crumb or something on your bare foot. *cringes* J has some slippers we got in Japan, but they are pilling on the inside which is just as gross and walking barefoot IMO. So he def could use a new pair.

Nine / I got J this beard kit for Christmas and his beard game has been ON POINT with this plus the oil and balm. #beardgoals

Living in Squalor

Friday, January 13, 2017
Am I the only one who feels like it takes LITERALLY FOREVER to like, fully decorate? We still sleep on a mattress on the floor and we've lived here like 5 months lol. Lately I have really been feeling it with our white walls situation. Like I just want $2,000 to finish decorating our apartment, is that too much to ask?!

We did get some plants yesterday that I'll photograph today and post on Monday. They are p cute and actually add a lot more than I thought they would. (The beginnings of a crazy plant lady, probably. I am my mother.)

Anyway, I wanted to share with you guys that the cutest boutique, Evy's Tree, is having a 40% off sale starting today! These cute lil' joggers are from them and I have literally worn them every day for the past week. #workfromhomeperks Wait, I'm not working from home anymore, I'm just at home?? WEIRD.

Go get yourself some goodies!! My favorites are this, this, and this.

The Time I Stopped Showering

Saturday, December 3, 2016
I have had my fair share of days without showering (camping trips when I was a teenager, ok?!) but after my breast reduction it reach a WHOLE new level. It probably doesn't help that I have to wear the same surgical bra every day UGH! I don't think I can go back to a regular bra until it's been 6 weeks. This means that in Tokyo I will be wearing it, but it's chill cause it's mostly sweater weather there in December, right?!

Here's the thing: After a breast reduction, your incisions like, leak fluid. Nothing super gross, but just a lil' bit. ALSO, you have to be careful because you can get an infection while your incisions are still healing.

So, from the time I got my reduction I had 6 weeks until we were leaving for Tokyo. I REALLY didn't want to get an infection because it could maybe mean we couldn't go to Tokyo, or it wouldn't be as enjoyable. I don't know how infections work, but I was just scared, ok?!?!?!

So I didn't shower... for like 3 days at one point. (Zomg.) In my defense, it felt SO WEIRD to have my boobs like, exposed to the world. Like they heal pretty boxy and they're not like, blubbery for a while. So it was just a weird experience and one I avoided. It got to a point where I lifted my arm and was like "NOPE." So then I showered and realized my incisions weren't as bad as they had been before, and from there on out it was smooth sailing in the smell department.

Anyway, while I was in my non-showering phase I got these little bb perfumes by Commodity Goods in the mail. They are so beautiful and cute. Now that I am showering again and I have been using mimosa and it smells sooooo good. I always forget to put on perfume, but srsly have you ever stood near someone who smells good? It's like, the biggest... I don't know the word I'm looking for. Not turn on, cuz gross, but just like it makes that person more attractive? Do you know what I mean?

Anyway, I hope you all are keeping better hygiene practices than me! Judge me if you want but it was a traumatic thing and I care not about the judgment!

DIY Polaroid Photo Wall

Thursday, October 27, 2016

YOU GUYS. I cannot tell you how happy I have been to be able to decorate our apartment again! While living in my mother's basement in Utah had many benefits, I had the hardest time with not being able to make it feel like our home. Needless to say, our little New England home is my total obsession all day, every day.

I have very specific home tastes. It needs to look clean, but cozy, but also modern, but not like a glass castle. Ya feel? I honestly am the luckiest person in the world because I have a husband who cares 0% about any decor. #blessed #husbandoftheyear

There are tons of great ways to decorate your home, apartment or even dorm room with your favorite photos. But one of my favorites is a simple DIY photo wall. Basically, it’s the easiest thing in the world and SO. CUTE.

You will need: white push pins, twine, gold binder clips, and some cutie Polaroid photos of your life! My husband and I have been loving our Polaroid Snap instant digital camera. The camera prints out photos instantly while we’re exploring new places or just hanging at home. These adorable 2x3” Polaroid photos are a perfect touch to personalize your home.  I got the push pins, twine, and binder clips from Flying Tiger for like $4 total. (Oh how I miss that place! Seriously one of my favorite things about living in New York City.) You can get the supplies from Amazon. Here are the binder clips, twine (love that pink!), and push pins.

Step #1: Eyeball where to put the push pins until your OCD husband gets nervous and whips out the measuring tape. Place appropriately.

Step #2: Cut way more twine than you actually need. Tie it around the push pins.

Step #3: Clip your photos to the twine! Sometimes there is a little twine thread that you can clip the photo to and it will hold it in place. But honestly, I let mine weight distribute themselves. So they could just slide either way on the twine if that makes sense. You have to put them all on there before you try to distribute the weight

Step #4: Cut your tails to the length you want. I wasn't originally planning on keeping these babies but I just liked the way they looked so I thought "What the heck".

Step #5. Pat yourself on the back for a job well done! And make sure to switch out your cutie Polaroid photos to keep things fresh!

The end! It's weird how such a simple little decoration can add so much! We have these giant walls because we have a second floor loft, so the living room is open. I have been weirdly stressed about what to do with them since we moved in, and I really like how this helps break up the space!

Anyway, I have tons more cute Polaroid photo DIYs coming, so keep your eyes peeled kids!

Thanks to Polaroid for partnering with me on this post! They are bae <3

Past Boob

Friday, September 2, 2016

UGH CAN WE TALK ABOUT GROWING OUT BANGS? I am so glad I am working from home because they are cray all the time. I'm hoping in like a month they will be long enough to do swoop bangs, but alas.

Also I have been mainly wearing my hair in braids, so when I wore it down the other day I was like, shocked. It is DEFINITELY past boob. I remember the days where I was just dreaming about the day my hair would be past boob and now that day is here!

I still try to not use a lot of heat or dye it. But, I did get this hot tools set that I am loving. The little baby straightner is perfect for traveling and also just cute and little lol. I like the tapered curling wand because I feel like it makes it so my curls don't merge into one. Do you know what I mean?

Anyway, if anyone has hairstyle ideas for while straight across bangs are growing out plz let me know!

Frizz Is NOT The Shiz

Thursday, August 11, 2016
Am I the only person who likes to get all beauty stuff done in the same day? Also am I the only person who only washes my hair once a week? Ok...

So basically once a week I like to put on a face mask, tweeze my eyebrows, take off my nail polish, wash my hair, shave my legs, put on selfless tanner, do my nails, do my hair, and BAM. Feel like the queen.

This week I tried out some Madison Reed products. I have been having MEGA hair problems since moving to the east coast and have been frantically trying to find solutions.

Anyway, I mainly just want my curls to last without becoming litle frizz balls. I decided to test them while going to Costco (which is a day long trek uptown). We got caught in the rain and only had one umbrella so my bangs are effed, but I think my curls stayed pretty smooth?

Idk. Maybe I just want to believe the best but also in these photos they look smooth and amazing and like I always want them to be. So, I'm counting it as a win.

Also all the products smell like the hair salon smell which made me feel extra-queen-y. Like sometimes when things smell like that I just automatically assume they are better and the real deal. (This is probably why I hate Times Square because it smells like urine and feces and old greasy food.) But ANYWAY. I'm just glad I am finding ways to get my hair under control because there's nothing worse than putting all the time and effort into your hair only to have the weather/climate ruin it. :(

Mega thanks to Madison Reed for being a babe and helpin' a sista out! Us girls are in this together lol.

P.S. Sorry to anyone who experienced my site being down. I changed the URL as you can see, and was having problems with the forwarding. It should be all better now! The new URL is is www.emmycoletti.com but www.emmyjake.com should forward it. All my social media is @emmycoletti too (Pinterest, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat) so this should be easier. I'm not changing my names again!

Lazy Mornings

Wednesday, August 3, 2016
Jake had to work Saturday (boo!) so I decided to have an extra pampered Saturday morning. I made a delicious breakfast and finished reading Station Eleven. I also definitely stayed in pajamas all day but when they're silk can you blame me? Whenever I wear silk sets/slips I feel like a queen haha.

Also, if you're wondering why I look so tan in these pictures and this picture on my Instagram, it's because I have been using Million Dollar Tan! (Also not over exposing the crap out of my images.) I have always been against tanning because it just seems dumb to ruin your skin to look good for like, a second. I tried a few sunless tanners in the past but didn't really like any. My sister actually worked with Million Dollar Tan when she had her daily deals website, and I got to sample their product. I fell in love. I love the way it evens out my face so I don't have to wear makeup lol. I have just been touching up my under eye circles and letting the freckles shine!

Anyway! They have this mitt you can use when you put it on and it literally makes all the difference. I used the Mermaid Mousse and it's amazing. Make sure you are holding it like exactly parallel/straight on with the glove when you pump it out. Also, I recommend making sure it's dry before getting into bed/wearing clothes. I usually put mine on and then walk around naked/in a bathrobe for a few hours haha. Also, it will look like it's coming off in the shower, and it does a little bit, but the overall tan still stays! So don't be scared.

Anyway, I have been wanting to work with more brands and stretch my creativity, so obviously Million Dollar Tan was one of the first companies I reached out to! Maybe it's not cool to reach out to companies, but idk. I would rather you guys know that I am being honest in my opinions on here. Gosh. It's hard to keep honest product reviews short lol. But also nutella waffles, am I right?

Weekly Nail: ft. Happiness Boutique

Sunday, July 17, 2016
Sorry I'm a minute late on this! I do my nails on the actual Sunday, so this is what my nails will look like all this week.

This week, I am featuring an online boutique called Happiness Boutique. I don't know how many of you have been following since pre-marriage days, but I used to wear A LOT of rings. I took all of them off my left hand when I got married, and then I just haven't bought any more.

This eye ring reminds me of that scene in A Series Of Unfortunate Events ahaha. I am a big fan of dainty/gold jewelry. My goal is to have a bunch more on my right hand. I love those gypsy-esque vibes that come from wearing lots of rings. Anyway, here's the link to their ring gallery!

If you use the code "emmyjake" you can get 10% off until August 22nd! They have free shipping and a monthly reward program if you're interested.

Ok I am also going to show you guys how last week's nails held up. Nothing is worse than spending the money on nail polish and having it chip :(. So, last week's nail polishes can be found here and I think they held up really well! I'm still really obsessed with Zoya. I'm sad they don't have an affiliate program or anything because I would be all over that.

Outfit Fail

Friday, May 20, 2016

It's no secret that I am horrible at being in photos. So, I had this great idea that I would photograph in my apartment! But, it turns out it's hard to get great photos in a 300 sqft apartment haha. So, fail.

Anyway, I have first pair of high waisted jeans and I don't know why I haven't been wearing them before now? I carry all my weight in my stomach, so partially the reason why I never wear jeans is becuase I feel like having the pudge restricts what type of tops I can wear. But I didn't think about how high waisted jeans would cover it haha.

Needless to say these babies have been on repeat while I've been eating my way through New York City. #neverstop #foodlove
