adventure: dreamathon

The other weekend we went to the Dreamathon in Salt lake and it was literally so cool! Basically there was an abandoned school that they let 150 artists come in and just do whatever. I didn't think it would be like, street art style, but it was! We decided it was the coolest art exhibit we have been to in a while.

Jake calls me "little bacon" now and it is my favorite thing in the world. Don't ask where bacon came from, because I don't even know.

"Dead cat society" hahahahah. I love it. I love it so much.

So, can we focus on how weird this wall-face is? Jake thought it was super creepy. I partially agree, but it's almost too creative to be creepy, ya know? Like gosh that horse-nose... I don't even know where people get these ideas, but thank heavens they do. 

The rainbow stairs were one of my favorite things! I hope one day when we have little bebes we can have some sweet rainbow stairs going to their room, or playroom, or something.

We saw this artist at a gallery stroll a while ago, and he was displayed at the dreamathon! He's Jake's favorite, so needless to say he was a happy camper. 

Ok, this room was my very favorite. It was so neat. The walls were all like the above, except in different colors. Also, the floor was a calendar. Soooo cool. 

Ok, this room probably doesn't look super cool, but it was! Everything was white except for like, certain spots. It was amazing! It was like, a small school heaven. 

This room had like, flower lights on the wall, and when you looked through the little plastic cards, it made them go all crazy. 

Hahahaha I love these. This was like a triangle tube, and you took a picture from the other end with a flash, and it turned out like this! How awesome!

I feel it's important to note that the people who participated in the Dreamathon are purely genius and we are literally so happy that it happened. Also, we are sad that it's over, but we really hope they do something like it again.

I've never been to an exhibit that was so inspiring! All I want to do now is make some cute stencils for our room.

life lately

Studying at all times. Although, this semester is almost over, so that's very good news. We have like 8 days left of actual class, and then finals! I'm excited! I am doing spring and summer, but I'm taking really fun classes that I'm excited for! Plus we can park in graduate school parking, which cuts the walk to class in half pretty much! 

I taught Jake how to fishtail! The one on the left is his first, and the one on the right is after a couple tries. I hate braiding my own hair because it's so long the angle is like, super weird and it hurts my arms because I'm a baby. Haha. He braids so well though! I hope we have little girls :)

Fancier fishtails! And some street art we ran into on our way home from school on Tuesday. I love it! There used to be a piece at the bottom of the stairs on campus that said "you've changed." I like to think that someone is doing these with the hope that their lover will see them. It's so cute! I can't wait until we go to a city and I can just wander the streets looking for street art!

We stopped by Sammy's Cafe on date night and found the message we wrote in fingernail polish when had just first started hanging out! It's under the counter, so hopefully they never get new ones! 

We didn't go to the color festival this year, because we'd rather be lazy on lounge around on our days off ;) but I did get to help clean it all up! It was AMAZING seeing the aftermath! Some 60,000 people went this year! It wasn't too bad with trash and stuff, but I loved seeing all the colors everywhere!

Spring in Utah is so dumb! Monday I wore a long sleeve button up and was absolutely sweating by the time I got to class. Then, on Wednesday it snowed and was freezing enough to have to whip out my winter coat... for only the morning. >:(. So then I looked like an idiot walking around campus all day, because when I started walking it was freezing, but then by 1 or 2 it was just normal. Someone needs to invent like a super compact coat that you can put in your pocket haha.

We tried Supreme Burger! It's been on our list for forever and we decided to treat ourselves after all this school! I was laughing so hard, because we went right after we got home from our mythology class, and after we got done ordering I turned around to see none other than our mythology professor!! He is the funniest guy! This place was pretty much like JCW' (aka amazing). I could eat their fries all day!

We're pretty much out of all food, but I absolutely HATE going grocery shopping! So, I've decided to see how long we can go just eating the food at our apartment! It's actually kind of fun. But, to get my sugar fix I've just been eating chocolate chips haha. Am I the only one who does this? CHOCOLATE OBSESSED. Also, I decided our wedding pictures needed to stop being in every room in the apartment, so I combined them all into this piece that is on our bedroom wall. Don't let it fool you... it took me a good while to get each side of the heart even and to make it symmetrical while simultaneously using all of the pictures with none left over! I'm happy with the end result though. :).

I've started an online class (cause you know, 15 credits isn't enough right now) and it's awesome because I love online classes, but not so awesome because now I don't want to go to school anymore! Haha especially the longggggg days, Tuesday and Thursday! I actually didn't go for like two weeks, and then I went on Tuesday, and now it's Thursday and I'm not going again. Well, maybe I'll go later. But, I don't know. It's like, sometimes class (for me, at least) seems like it's not that important. I mean, I used to skip class all the time, and sometimes that would lead to a bad grade, but when they don't grade your attendance, and when you can read the text book and still get a good grade on the test, I think it's fine :). My mom hates it! She's always telling me to go to school, since I'm paying so much for it, but I don't know. I can stay home today and get half of my online class done, ya know? Haha.

We've got a fun weekend planned with a Salt Lake adventure, concert at The Wall, sleepover at my mom's house, and then conference with the fam! I'm ready for it to be here!

P.S. New design! It took me foreverrrrrrr to get it done. Like, I bought a template, but then realized so many things weren't the way I wanted them to be, so I did all of it myself! I have MUCH RESPECT for those of you who can just whip up templates. You're crazy! I'm still having difficulties with old posts being formatted weird, as well as mobile view, but whatever!

weekend happenings

I was so pleased to see these beautiful trees lining the sidewalk! Then, as we walked closer I realized that, to my horror, they are fake! Why would you choose fake plastic trees (Radiohead, anyone?) that are forever in the color of fall? I mean, is it that hard to plant real trees? Haha. 

I really wanted to buy one of these from Unhinged, but then it came to me that landlines probably won't exist in the future! Sucks for us...

So, on Friday we went to Sodalicious and the art stroll for date night. It was really nice because we just walked from our apartment. I got a hazelnut hot chocolate and Jake got a Your Mom. Haha. I can't remember what the flavors were or what the soda was for his, but it was really good! I want to try a Hot Lava next time. Apparently it's like hot chocolate except made with something that makes it really creamy? I'm not sure. OH. And also you can just drive through this place! How fun! I'm excited to go back and try more drinks! They have so many different combinations. I can't stop laughing at this picture, because it reminds me so much of this picture!!

The art stroll was really fun. The wall of stencils is continually growing! I wish somebody would do a huge wheatpaste, but alas. My favorite artists of the night were Paula Brave (pictured above at Muse Music Cafe) and Lisa Marie Crosby (displayed currently at Covey Center for the Arts). I loved the morbidity Paula Brave gave everyday characters. I think I'm pretty much alone in my love for dark, morbid artwork, but that doesn't make me love it any less! My favorite piece of hers was the top right painting of a city. I also LOVED the abstract work Lisa Marie Crosby did. I would sell my legs for Words Unseen.

It was a great weekend overall! We caught up on some much needed sleep and watched some SUPERB episodes of The X-Files. Now, back to the books!

tuesday friends wanted

Here's what happens on Tuesdays.

Me: School from 9 - 12.

Jake: Work from 8 - 1. School from 1 - 9.

Me: Alone from 12-9.

So aka solitude.

This past Tuesday I ate delicious cupcakes, bought a rockin' pair of Ralph Lauren tights, painted a new mug, and ate a carmel apple.

So that was a wonderful experience.

life lately as seen from my iphone

1.) So, basically my Tuesdays are spent painting. Pros: I get to complete paintings and watch of Criminal Minds. Cons: Jake has work and school all day (literally) that day, so we are apart and it is really sad and I really miss him while he is gone.

2.) A feast according to the us. Which is really sad considering it was quesdillas and two fruits. Eh. One of these days I'll find the time to put some effort into what food goes into my mouth.

3.) Awesome pictures my husband takes of me while I'm sleeping. My brother-in-law did this for the longest time, seeing as I fell asleep everywhere at all times. It seems the tradition has been passed down. So embarrassing.

4.) So, Jake had a canker sore and would only smile like this for about two days. How cute is that?!

5.) I literally laughed out loud when this happened. Sooooo funny. The girl who posted it is someone I used to work with. I didn't mean any harm! I was just stating facts! I really really wasn't trying to be mean or anything, and didn't event think about it as a mean thing to say to someone. However, when I saw what a girl had commented after me (not the girl who posted it) I sort of felt bad. But honestly, who doesn't know Marilyn Monroe committed suicide?! LOL and also the fact that I was called a "chick" and a "douche" in the same sentence was so funny. Not even being sarcastic right now.

6.) How big are those tires? Naturally we freaked out and had a whole conversation about it. Life.

7.) Cute new screen savers left on my phone when I am taking a shower. Points, JC. Points.

8.) I went with Jake to school (he goes at night) and read a shiz ton of stuff about stats and also feminism and felt rather proud of my accomplishment. Also, might I just take this moment to say I have 100% in all of my classes and I don't feel one bit braggy about that because I got a 1.82 freshman year.

neata frita

So, yesterday my friend and I went and checked out the Frita exhibit. It was really interesting to learn about her life. I would regurgitate it, but I get a feeling nobody cares ha ha. There was a picture of her in my psychology textbook one time, but I didn't really think anything of it other than "that lady has a unibrow". The old photographs of her were pretty cool though.

Afterwards we went to Coffee Pod and plot twist they have delicious strawberry-vanilla Italian sodas. So, that was a cool discovery.
