Thrifted Things

Friday, October 23, 2015
Do you guys remember the blog Thrifted Things? It was one of the first blogs I discovered and I was obsessed with it. I'm sad she isn't blogging anymore :( I always wanted to score good thrifting finds, but never could! I have been having more luck recently, though. I tried to photograph one of the outfits and I just looked so awkward. So, I decided to do these "tumblr outfit" photos instead. #sohip #socool

I struck gold a few months ago on an Instagram sale (love those!) and got this sweater with a bunch of other stuff. The skirt is from IfChic from when I was really into collecting the coins and redeeming them every month hahaha. Also! How cute is this shirt? I found it while thrifting with Bev in Arizona!

Guys! This sweater has been my favorite for a long time! I got it earlier this year, but haven't been able to wear it because the back is see through. Now that it's finally fall I can layer it over a button-up and I'm SO EXCITED.

This dress photographs so weird always. This is the outfit I tried to photograph on myself before giving up. I wore the biker shorts underneath the thigh highs, so they looked like leggings without me melting.

Anyway! I want to start doing more of these posts, but we'll see if it actually happens haha! I just feel like I am more into dressing cute in the fall and winter months? Is that weird?

Consciously Making A Huge Mistake

Thursday, October 22, 2015
I have published all of my old blogs posts to this blog.

I already know this will come back to bite me, but I felt it was necessary. I'm just a regular person with regular problems and a regular adolescent life. I guess I just want to appear more human. With all the internet hate these days it's scary to be a real person. But, I don't know. It's stupid to censor your teenager years because you're scared to have a GOMI thread named after you. So, here goes!

My First Vlog!

Wednesday, October 21, 2015
Hello hello! I am sick right now. I literally haven't been sick in like, probably two years. I ate some sore throat drops yesterday that made me even MORE sick, haha! Anyway, as much as I hate being sick, it's kind of nice to just sleep all day and let your body heal itself.

Today's post is the vlog from when I visited Bev! Sorry in advance for all the shakyness. I'm the worse vlogger we decided! Bev made some videos too that I'll post once they're up. You guys have to see my "suitcase" because I am so proud lol! Anyway, watch it if you dare.

I'm still not sure about my feelings towards vlogging. I thought it was fun when I was with Bev, but I don't feel like my actual life is that interesting to anyone. Maybe when I move to New York haha.

Family Halloween Party!

Tuesday, October 20, 2015

I apparently didn't take many photos at our family halloween party! I am trying to get better at photographing the every day. Hence why I have been posting so much lately. I did take lots of pictures of our costumes, but I am going to post mine and Jake's on Halloween. And I never post pictures of my family here for privacy reasons, but just know other people were there too hahahahah.

My mom made this green apple Kool-Aid and it was SO good. Like, I was surprised at how good it was. We have a halloween tradition of always having this broccoli cheese soup in pumpkin bread bowls. It's dang good, and that's coming from someone who is "not a soup person". (Although I think it just depends on the soup now.)

I want to have a friend halloween party but I feel like I have so many friends scattered in different groups it would be so awkward. I have my friends from high school, my friends from blogging, and then we have my husbands friends. So, I probably won't do it, but I do want to go to a friend halloween party this year! We've never gone to one and I think it could be fun with all the married couples here :).

That's one of the reasons why I'm excited to move to New York, as well. I hear that out there your friends are your family, because no one is living super close to their family. I think in Utah it's kind of hard because most people's families are so close they usually end up doing stuff with them. (Like us hahaha.) So, let's hope we'll have some fun friends in NYC to do things with! :)

Chandler, Arizona: Day 2

Sunday, October 18, 2015
I guess this is technically the last post from my time visiting Beverly. I left really early the next day and didn't feel like make that it's own post.

We started the day out a Crepe Bar! It was AMAZING.

I got a lemon crepe and Bev got one called "first time" lol!

I went up to the barista to ask for my orange juice that I never got, and the barista said, "This is perfect because I was actually just going to bring you something." He followed me back to our table with this "fermented grape juice". He had apparently been fermenting it for a while and it was like, wine before it's wine? (S.O.S. wine drinkers, help me out here.) Anyway, he said it didn't have any alcohol in it so we tried it and it was so strange tasting! I'm guessing that's what wine tastes like, so I finally know!! To be honest, I'm not the biggest fan.

We made some videos in between lunch and dinner. I'm excited to show you guys! Before dinner we took some pictures at this really pretty garden place. My camera was having trouble focusing so I didn't get as many as I wanted, but we still got some cute pics!

For dinner we went to a place called Uprooted Kitchen. It was for sure the healthiest thing I've ever eaten haha.

I left really early in the morning the next day. It was such a pretty flight with the sunrise.

And that's it! Yay! I love visiting blog friends so so so much. It's the best! Thanks again, Bev :)

Chandler, Arizona: Day 1

Saturday, October 17, 2015
YOU GUYS. My friend Beverly was nice enough to let me come visit her in Arizona earlier this week. I feel like Bev and I go wayyyyyy back. We've been friends pretty much since when I started blogging. We've hung out a time or two when she's been in Utah and it's been great fun. After I discovered Allegiant's super cheap flights when we went to San Francisco to visit Leah, I thought it would be fun to go to Arizona too! I chatted Bev up and BAM. Friends IRL again.

To start the day off, we went for breakfast at Peixoto. It was soooo good. I loved the latte art the most, but my chocolate croissant was a close second. They had this tea called Cascara that I wanted to try but didn't. So, if any of you try it let me know how it tastes! :)

Gwen was such a trooper accompanying us everywhere ha! She is seriously the cutest. I stayed in her room. The first morning I was there she found me in her bed and just stood there staring at me for a good 3 minutes. It was the funniest thing. I think she liked me alright and didn't mind me stealing her room ;)

Guys, I tried on of those wrap around braids. I liked it, except for the fact some guy in a car thought it was a short haircut and that I was a lesbian! Ha! We were walking down the street and this guy leaned out his window and yelled at us, "F****** LESBIANS!!!!" We were so confused for a while, until we decided that my hair probably looked like a really short cut to him. (He was still a jerk though lol.) It was the funniest part of our day for sure. We decided that being mistaken for lesbians means we're at the true height of our friendship :)

Bev took us to Liberty Market for lunch!

Mega lol at the employee I just realized in this picture!!

Isn't it the cutest little street?!

The caprese salad, grilled cheese sandwich, and caprese pasta salad. I don't know what they do to their mozzarella cheese, but it was hands down the best I've ever had. It's impossible for me to not order caprese salads if they are on the menu ha!

We also tried a kouign-amann for dessert and it was pretty good. I have been wanting to try it ever since reading the one at Les Madeline's in Salt Lake is one of the top ten desserts in Utah. Whoa!

We spent the rest of the night chatting and buying everything pumpkin spice at Target (literally lol). It was SO NICE to be with a friend who understood the picture taking and video making haha. Miss you, Bev! <3

TBT: 1

Thursday, October 15, 2015
Guys, I want to start doing TBT posts of old pictures! So this is the beginning of a weekly series :) I am just posting them with the editing style I had in high school so I'm way excited haha. I've already scheduled a bunch out! Yay! Please let me know what you think of them as we go along. Hopefully they will be fun, but let me know if it's one of those things that is super boring to see as a reader. <3

In high school one of my favorite places was Beans and Brews in American Fork, Utah. I used to go there soooo much (especially during school, oops). I still believe they have the best hot chocolate in the world. Here is a picture of a time when I took Trixie with me. I am not lying when I say Trixie was my best friend in high school. <3

A Happy List: 87

Monday, October 12, 2015
(Throwback picture because I'm the worst and haven't edited any of my own stuff this week.)

I was trying to look up what Grey Damon's hair is, but I thought his name was Damon Grey. When I googled "Damon Grey haircut" all these pictures of Matt Damon with grey hair popped up haha.
Getting the stains off my backpack with my mom's super stain remover recipe.
Looking at my trip mileage right when it changed from 999.9 to 000.0.
Finally tracking down who owns the Instagram username Emmy.
Starting (and binge watching) Mr. Robot. We're obsessed!
How much Trixie loves her new treats from Chewy.
Getting food at work almost every day.
The wardrobe for my 90s photoshoot.
When Trixie laid in my foot arch.

Funny things people said this week:
My mom: "Skully, are you just using me?"

Fractured Prune

Wednesday, October 7, 2015
Guys these were the donuts I was talking about yesterday. Before we talk about the donuts, let me tell a quick story.

We drove 45 minutes to get to St. George. When we got there, the road we needed to get to was blocked because there was a marathon going on. We drove around trying to find a way there for about 20 more minutes. When we finally arrived, we step out of the car to realize we both left our wallets at home. (Side note: If you want to know how Jake handles anger this is what really happened when he realized he left his wallet at home. *regular, inside voice* "I want to swear right now." THAT'S ALL. That guy is the coolest head I'll ever know.)

Anyway, we channeled our inner #powercouple and figured out we could give them our credit card information and they could charge us that way. I was throwing a mini celebration and the girl at the register like, did not understand. I wanted to yell, "WE JUST DROVE 45 MINUTES AND GOT STUCK IN ROAD BLOCKS FOR ANOTHER 20 ONLY TO FIND OUT WE DIDN'T EVEN HAVE OUR WALLET. ALSO WE HAVE NOT FOUGHT ONCE THIS WHOLE TIME AND JUST FOUND A WAY TO STILL GET DONUTS SO THAT'S WHY WE ARE CELEBRATING." But with teenagers, what can ya do. So, we just ordered a dozen specialty donuts and called it good.

Needless to say they were delicious. You can choose your own sauce and topping! WHAT. Definitely add them to your list :)

Your Magic's Real So Why Aren't You Using It?

Tuesday, October 6, 2015

Tbt the old blog when my titles were from songs. I want to bring some of the old blog characteristics back sometimes, but then I'm like, "You're an adult now!" But I just decided that titling your blog posts with song lyrics isn't angsty, right? Right?! RIGHT?!

How do people work full time jobs and still blog? And also keep up on other people's blogs? I get home at 5:30 (If I'm lucky.) and the last thing I want to do is look at a computer screen. Haha not really, but I usually end up making food and doing random life tasks. I have hundreds of posts in my blog roll! Ah! I haven't read blogs in soooooo long. I'm sorry blogworld. I have failed you. :/

I still like blogging, but I've also realized that it's not something that's important to me. I think it's more a place to put my photography. When I don't take pictures I get so depressed and annoyed that I'm a "corporate robot". But when I don't blog I'm just like, "Ok."

It's weird because prior to graduating college and getting a full time job I thought that I would always love blogging. I honestly thought I would always have a blog and that I would feel so empty without it. But now, I think I would be 100% fine haha. I more so like the connection I make in the blogging world and the organization it gives my life.

Anyway, I have just been thinking about this lately and it's just weird to feel so neutral about something I was once so passionate about.

Change is weird and sometimes I can't decide if it's bad or good. I feel like the transition from my old blog to this new blog is one I think about a lot. I can't decide if it was bad or good. On one hand, I can't get cyberbullied for any stupid thing I said when I was a teenager. But on the other hand, I have erased my whole history online so you guys only know as far back to when I met Jake. Up until I started college I was really artsy and took cool pictures and wrote cool poems. Even that first year produced some pretty good pieces of art because of all the shiz that happened. They weren't amazing, but they were honest and true.

I had so much angst that fueled all of that. But then when I met Jake I became a real adult who didn't experience angst 24/7. I know that part of that is good, but a part of me wishes I could publish that old blog and let it back into the cyberworld. I feel like I now censor a huge part of my life because I'm scared of the backlash I might get if I say I'm voting for Hilary and I hate living in Utah. I've only ever had serious backlash about one thing I wrote, but it was harsh enough that I never want to put risky things on this space again. I have a lot of opinions and a lot to say, but I don't ever want to offended anyone. I'm just a 21-year-old girl with limited life experience so what do I really know anyway?

It's just weird, I guess. Change.
