Juice Generation!

Tuesday, May 31, 2016

We loved these smoothies! I got the watermelon and Jake got the peanut butter. If I didn't mind the calories I would get the peanut butter next time. It was seriously sooooo good.

On Saturday morning we headed out at 8:00 am to get breakfast. It was seriously sooooo magical. There wasn't a soul on the streets of the Upper East Side. We got smoothies and walked around The Met and Central Park.

It's mornings like this I'll remember when we're gone!

A Happy List: 120

Monday, May 30, 2016
I have been uploading all of the photos on my hard drive to my iCloud  and I found this gem from when I had blonde hair haha.
Finally trying chicken and waffles. (Greatest thing about New York: tons of vegetarian food.)
Making more friends here in a month than we did in 3 years in Utah lol.
Finding out Skullie is alive. (We thought she was dead.)
Getting on the most squished subway train of all time.
Max Brenner hot chocolate! (So expensive though.)
I love when Chris D'elia does his Rick impression.
I got this cardigan from Anthropologie for $12!
My friend, Leah, got the cutest puppy!
The way my skin feels in the humidity.
This Instagram feed. The colors!

Here are some funny things people said this week:

(I was making the bed.) Jake: "Wait, put that one on my side because it's Bae Pillow."

Jake: "Since donuts are like $12 a piece here, maybe Twizzlers will become my new Bae Pillow."

(We were talking about if we would get remarried if one of us died. I was telling Jake that if I did I would still wear Jake's wedding ring around my neck. For some reason I chose Carl as the fake husband's name and was telling Jake what I would say to him."
Jake: "You would have to say his name like, "Carrrrlllll?!" I would say it like that to him. I'd be lolz Baker in ghost form."

I gave Jake some shorts to try on and he was making all these excuses to not try them on. One was, "This is also a size 50???" He was looking at the UK size lol.

Me: "Jake, just finish the rest of that cookie dough!"
Jake: "This is a whole other session!"

Jake while posting to Instagram: "Don't tell anyone, but I have a filter on this one."

Jake is growing his hair out. It's getting pretty long. The other day while we were walking down the street he said, "Whoa, I just looked in the window and I didn't even recognize... my hair."

Boobs (Yeah, I'm Going There.)

Friday, May 27, 2016
I feel like my real life personality is really coming out in these past three posts haha. Now you know what I'm really like!

- - - - -

Ok, I am going to keep this as short as possible so you don't skip over it! Here is a before and after of me wearing the wrong bra size (top, 34DD) and the right bra size (bottom, 30G). I measured myself using this website, but then I went into a professional bra fitter and got measured again.

Anyway, this is basically just my plea to all of you. Measure yourself using that website, or go get measured by a professional. Especially if you feel like you can't wear certain clothing styles, or you have back pain. Since switching to the right size I feel like my boobs look less humongous and clothing fits me better. Not to mention my back hardly hurts at all! (I mean, I still have some back aches because I'm like 5'2", 105 pounds, with G BOOBS!!!!! So I mean like, what can I really do.)

A note on Victoria's Secret: I may have just had weird associates measuring me, but I have been measured there 3 different times and each time I was measured at a 32DD or 34DD. I love their stuff and wish I could fit into it, but I sadly can't haha. Anyway, so if you have only been measured there, just take like 5 minutes and try the website I linked above and see if the sizes match up. You might be surprised!

Left bra here / Rigth bra here
Also, Victoria's Secret does have beautiful/fun/sexy underwear, but they aren't the only place! I got these two beauties at Journelle and I've never been more obsessed.

LAST THING! I feel like sometimes we are in denial about wearing a huge bra size, because we think it means our boobs look huge, or our boobs are huge. But, as you can see from the before and after photo, even though I am wearing a bigger size now, I feel like it makes my boobs look smaller! So, get over the denial that you're bigger than a DD, because your boobs will look smaller when you're wearing the right size!

Well, now that the entire internet knows my bra size, I think I'll go.

XOXO

P.S. Seriously though, like if I find out you have only been measured at Victoria's Secret, and you read this post and didn't try the self measuring guide, I will be mad at you. SO GET MEASURED.

Chobani!

Thursday, May 26, 2016

Whew! Things got a little serious here yesterday! My knee jerk reaction is to say, "Sorry!" But, I'm not going to apologize, because I think it's important to keep the integrity of this blog. I love all the comments, readers, and friends I have made during my time blogging, but at the end of the day this blog is for me (and my future children, hopefully.)

I'm a crap journalist and photos can only tell so much of a story. I love the storybook effect of photos and words in daily posts organized chronilogically. It's just so organized and clean. I love it. I love browsing my archives from high school and being able to bring back that exact time with the pictures I took and the words I wrote. So, as much as I love sharing and making new friends, this blog is very much my (used to be) private space where I chronicle my life.

I think it's important to not dwell on negativity, but it's also important to be a real person with depth. I don't ever want to appear like a 2 dimensional person who never has any feelings other than happiness. SO. If you don't like the honest posts, then skip over them, because they aren't stopping any time soon!

- - - - -

In other news... I did a photoshoot last week in Soho with the cutest Shira! (See the first batch here and watch for the next!) Afterwards, we stopped at Chobani! I have never had a better yogurt! Oh, and if you like coffee, they do beautiful latte art.

You HAVE to add this place to your New York list. I got the regular yogurt with blueberries, strawberries, and coconut flakes. The coconut flakes MADE it. They were like, crunchy... kinda like slivered almonds? But coconut? AMAZING. Go here.

How I'm Liking New York City: The Truth

Wednesday, May 25, 2016

Whenever people ask me how I'm liking living in New York City, the only thing that comes to my mind is: it's a rollercoaster. There are some things that I am scared of and hate, and there are some things that I love and couldn't live without. It's constantly up and down.

My life in Utah was comparable to riding a Merry-Go-Round. It was nice and safe, never full of too much excitement. While living in Utah, I became really anxious and depressed and latched on to this idea that what I wanted most was to move to New York City. However, now that I am here I realize I don't necessarily need to live in New York City to be happy. I just know that Utah isn't a good fit with my personality and lifestyle. At one point in your life (yes, I mean you), you have stood somewhere and said the words, "I like this, but I could never live here." That's how I feel about Utah, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

The more I explore different cities and towns, the more I realize there are a variety of places I could be happy and make a home. I mean, sure, I could be happy in New York City. But, I could also be happy in Hoboken, with all the cute streets and shops. Or Spokane, with the beautiful evergreen trees and granola lifestyle. Or even California, with all of the camping and beaches.

I think ultimately what's important to me is being somewhere that I can make my own. Somewhere that no one has been before, where I can start my own traditions and my own lifestyle. I want to live a life without any maps or tour guides and figure things out for myself. It's definitely outside my comfort zone, but I feel like there is some sort of poetic beauty that occurs when you push yourself further than you thought you could.

I don't know if we'll live in New York City forever. I don't even know if we'll live here while I go to graduate school. But, I do know that our time in New York City will be something we'll always treasure. We moved here as a couple of kids, but we will leave as real, grown-up adults.

And that to me, makes it worth it.

Georgetown Cupcake + Shooting!

Tuesday, May 24, 2016

I shot some more product for Recks & Relle last week (see it here)! Angel and I decided to meet at Georgetown Cupcake. The salted caramel cupcake was amazing! Please notice my blogger fail haha. I smeared the frosting.

After we shot we tried Balthazar! I didn't have any of Angel's tart, but it was seriously beautiful.

I am starting a new tradition of takinga photo with everyone I shoot with! Eventually I want to have a polaroid camera for this reason, but until then I shall use digital!

A Happy List: 119

Monday, May 23, 2016
Xian's Famous Foods! A good cheap-eats option in NYC. I love their spinach dumplings. Jake recommends the pork noodles (N9).

All these flowers on the Upper East Side got me like <3.

We ordered chinese from Six Happiness and they were at our door in 20 minutes haha. That's good customer service!
We made really good life plans last night. I'm not sure if I should say exactly what they are, but in December we are making changes that will make my graduate school experience so much better.
Finding out my discount at Anthropologie is like 20% better than I originally thought it was.
These tortilla chips are the best. I don't know if I will ever go back to the regular style.
Walking out our front door to a full on farmer's market on the street?!?!
I have been really loving cereal. I mean like, 3-bowls-a-day loving.
I am mega lol-ing over this baby face in someone's knee.
This guy's Instagram posts are killin' me haha.
Seeing Bernese Mountain dogs in real life.
My shopping experience at Journelle.
This girl's wedding.

Clothes I am loving:

Posts in the blog-o-sphere I am loving: This look delicious. / I want to try the real bread pudding and then make this! / My friend is restoring an airstream trailer and I am SO EXCITED to follow the adventures online! / You have to read this fitness journey. It convinced me to do the BBG thing, but I am poor so I'm doing it a different way (kind of) lol. / My friend went to Odysseo and it's my favorite thing. I think horses are soooo funny for some reason and I'm so sad I couldn't enter her giveaway!

Here are some funny things people said this week:

Jake: "Isn't it weird that babies are like, fishes? Until their born?"

Jake: "Cupbop is good, but Cupbop isn't life."

(We were talking about how technology will be so far advanced when we have kids.) Jake: "He'll be like, dating robots. We'll be like, "K. Like can you not reproduce."

My mom: "I can't handle all these flowers."

My mom: *not talking to me haha* "Really! Can't you see? Are you an idiot?!"

My mom: *after venting about The Walking Dead for 5 minutes* "They need to talk about Daryl or something."

Dough Donuts!

Sunday, May 22, 2016

So this whole time I thought the only Dough was in Brooklyn, but it turns out there is one closer to us in Union Square! #score

Dough donuts are just as good as you would think they are. I got the Nutella and was in a small heaven. Although, in all honesty, I thought the Dough donuts we got from Grace's were just as good and we didn't have to wait in a long line.

So, tip: If you are on the Upper East Side and want to try a Dough donut without the line, go to Grace's. There isn't as much as a variety (like 2 or 3 flavors I think) but they are still AMAZING.

Belvedere Castle!

Saturday, May 21, 2016

My bangs ALWAYS look like this now that I am outside so much. Plz help me, hair gurus! How do I get my bangs to stay in place?

We had a picnic in Central Park! We decided to just wander around and we stumbled upon Belvedere Castle! For the first few minutes we were standing somewhere where we could just see the lake and we were so confused haha. We were like, "Why is this great?" but then if you go down a little bit you can see the most beautiful view of the city!

I'm not excited for all the heat and humidity that's coming, but I am excited to picnic in Central Park more!

Outfit Fail

Friday, May 20, 2016

It's no secret that I am horrible at being in photos. So, I had this great idea that I would photograph in my apartment! But, it turns out it's hard to get great photos in a 300 sqft apartment haha. So, fail.

Anyway, I have first pair of high waisted jeans and I don't know why I haven't been wearing them before now? I carry all my weight in my stomach, so partially the reason why I never wear jeans is becuase I feel like having the pudge restricts what type of tops I can wear. But I didn't think about how high waisted jeans would cover it haha.

Needless to say these babies have been on repeat while I've been eating my way through New York City. #neverstop #foodlove

MacarOn Cafe

Thursday, May 19, 2016
The "rose" macaron. SO GOOD. I am a sucker for anything rose flavored, though.
The "Capri" sandwich: goat cheese, granny smith apple, honey, pine nuts, and raisins on a baguette! I have never liked goat cheese until now.

HOW CUTE IS THIS PLACE? You seriously need to add it to your New York list. The sandwiches are premade and this place is right by Central Park, so you could go picnic! Anyway, pretty sure we will be going here very often, so prepare for many more posts.

I want to try basically all the macaron flavors, but especially the honey lavendar! They also have a PB&J flavor that I'm curious about.

P.S. My bangs always look great when I leave the house, but then I have to walk to the subway stations and they look like this ^^ :(

Dress / Shoes / Lipstick (My favorite shade for summer!)

On Sunday we headed over to The Met to shoot some product for Recks and Relle. I knew it wouldn't be busy, but I didn't think it would be completely empty! It was seriously a dream shooting there and not having tons of random people in the background lol!

We shot product for about 30 minutes before we had to leave because of the CRAZIEST wind (pictured above). It was seriously impossible to shoot anything, so we left and then on the walk home it started raining while we had armfuls of clothes! Ha! Gotta love it.

Anyway, I have decided that skater dresses are my go to. I just bought 3 last week, and my "interview" dress is a skater as well. I just feel like they are more flattering on my body shape? Idk. I know a personal stylist and I want to have her dress me in a few different outfits so I know what looks best for my body shape!

Jake lol. I have started having him take pictures of me, instead of me taking pictures of him. I finally realized that he would rather be behind the camera instead of in front of it! But I still have to test my lighting ;) haha.

Guy I want to start making more videos. Any ideas on what I should make them about? Or anything you're curious to see?

Over The Weekend

I have been dying to go to this place called The Candle Cafe! It's a vegetarian restaurant so yay. Jake got the black bean burger and I got a BLT! The nice thing about New York is restaurants that make fake bacon exist haha. Anyway, HIGHLY recommend if you are vegetarian.

These are actually from last week and I just forgot to post. But I made cookies and left the room for a minute, only to come back to one little bite out of one hahaha. We have been doing lots of movie nights and catching up on shows!

Like I've never liked ice cream until recently? We had to hop down to the grocery store below us to grab some the other day haha. #truelove (Pants from Tobi, top from Soul Flower.)

We hauled this couch down flights of stairs ourselves!!!! Congratulate us!! Like literally at one point, both me and Jake were below the couch holding it up from sliding down the stairs. I had to take off my shoes and mountain climb it to unjam it haha. It was awesome. #couplegoals

Can you tell we are borderline obsessed with eating in bed? Like this tray was a game changer. No mo crumbs in my biz. Also those milk jugs, game changers. #nomospills

-

The weather was so nice! Honestly one of my favorite parts of the weekend was just walking everywhere. When we've got the time it's so fun to burn some cals and see the city, instead of the subway. Anyway! I may add more to this later, but in case I forget, see ya!

How Hawk in The Path looks exactly like Heath Ledger. The world needs another Heath Ledger.

Here are some funny things people said this week:

*me at my new job*
Me to the kid next to me: "So, do you know what my job position is here?"
Him: "I didn't even know they were hiring another person until you showed up."

We got a big rug and Jake keeps calling it a "carpet".

My mom: "I want these cats away from my front door! I'm being harrassed!!!!"

Me: "I saw the smallest baby today!"
Jake: "A dog baby or a human baby? Cause I have to ask with you now."

*He was trying to make a joke hahaha he knows who Ron is.*
Jake: "Em, you not knowing who Princess Leia is, is like someone not knowing who Harry Potter, Hermione, and Roger are."

Planning a trip! What should we do/see/eat?

DONUTS.

Friday, May 13, 2016
Are you guys liking the daily blog posts or is it too much?

Also there is this bakery called Orwashers that has THE BEST FILLED DONUT. It's filled with local jam/jelly (What's the difference?!) and is seriously the best.

We ate them in bed while watching The Path. Are any of you watching? I am LOL-ing hardcore that Jesse was like a teenager in Breaking Bad and in The Path he is a father with a teenager hahaha. I freaking love Cult T.V. shows though. I need to find more books/t.v. shows/movies about cults! So if you have a favorite plz let me know.
