Açaí bowls have been my jam lately. SO GOOD.

1/2 cup fresh strawberries
1/2 cup frozen blueberries
1 package frozen açaí from Sambazon (You can buy these at Real Foods in Orem, so far that's the only place I've found that has them.)
1/4 cup apple juice (I use Red Barn because it's the best ever! I think it's only a Utah thing though. I just get it at Macey's.)

Blend it all together! If your blender isn't the best you might need to use a wooden spoon or something and push it around while it's blending. Be careful and only open the lid a little bit! I did that for the first little while and it wasn't too bad, but then I decided to just use my and Jake's blender we got for our wedding instead haha. I usually do the strawberries and apple juice first, and then once it's slushy I'll add in the blueberries. I add the frozen dude last!

Top it off with granola (try to find one with a low sugar count, it's worth it to pay extra!), a sliced banana, and some shredded coconut! The coconut I use is sweetened, but once the bag runs out I'm going to try to find unsweetened and see how that is.

I watched the documentary Fed Up and it scared me! There is sugar in SO MANY THINGS. I'm not against sugar, but some things that I thought were "healthy" actually have so much sugar in them! So, it's kind of counter intuitive if you're eating something "healthy" like spaghetti sauce and it has a whole ton of sugar. Anyway, so I've been trying to look at sugar content in products and buy things with less sugar.

Heaven knows I'm already eating enough sugar at the chocolate shop! I don't need anymore! Haha.

P.S. Any good açaí recipes or toppings I should try?

PUPPIES.

Thursday, May 14, 2015
This is an entire post dedicated to Trixie and another puppy I encountered. Like, Trixie is so cute I can't even stand it sometimes. I probaby yell, "Trixie is so cute!!!" at least once a day. My mom says she is cute because she is so human-like. I've decided that's a good way to describe her. She is a dog who thinks she is a human.

Anyway, I just cleared out my photos on my phone and SO MANY of them were of Trixie. I decided to give her her own post haha.

So we put Trixie like this just to be funny. We then left for around an hour and a half and came back to find her like this...

EXACT SAME POSITION YOU GUYS.

I love when she lays on the little bone toy we got from Chewy.

Ok, my all time favorite thing is when she rests her head on my legs! And yes, that is Joe Carol in the background. The Following has been SO GOOD.

Jake has started carrying her like a parrot. It's also one of my very favorite things.

See? So human-like.

Ok, so we watched the "fight of the centurY" at Jake's boss's house. They had this puppy and it was SO CUTE! I think she said it was an Austrailian Sheep dog? I'm not sure, but her speckles were the cutest ever.

The chocolate shop I'm working at has chocolate dipped bones that are safe for dogs! I brought one home for Trixie and she was one happy pup.

And lastly, this is Trixie watching us eat. All day every day she just sits quietly next to us and waits for something to fall. Well, she does that when she isn't eating. She has this thing where she eats the same time we do? It's really weird, but also adorable because we'll all be eating and we'll hear something and look over to find Trixie crunching on her food. It's like the whole family is together for dinner haha.

TRIXIE IS MY FAVORITE.

We Be Brunchin'

Wednesday, May 13, 2015

While my grandma was here we went to Blue Lemon for dinner. While we were there we discovered they had breakfast and went back the next morning, ha! Needless to say, it was a v good brunch experience. I want to go again! I got the orange creme crepes and they were really good! I tried my grandma's lemon blueberry pancakes, and I would probably get those next time. Just because lemon pancakes? How can you not? I also took a really cute picture of my grandma, but I think I've decided to not post pictures of other people on here. Not because I don't want to! I just keep seeing picture stealing things? And I would feel really awkward if someone found a picture of themselves somewhere and found out it came from my blog? #bloggerdweeb. So, yeah. I'm going to keep the pictures limited to those who wouldn't mind, for now! Until I'm not scared of picture stealing anymore, haha.

Anyway, that artwork was done by a 5th grader and blew my mind. Kids are so creative when they are allowed to be! Darn society and its hindering ways.

Go to Blue Lemon for brunch! You will not regret it!

New Camera, Yay!

Tuesday, May 12, 2015

(First of all, is anyone interested in like a photography post? I feel like I get quite a few questions about what gear I use and what the benefits are of different lenses and camera bodies. I don't know if that many people care, but if you do say "hey" and maybe I"ll write a post about it all.)

I got a new camera! Yay! After talking to Leah about full frame vs cropped frame, I had to go full frame! I sold all my camera stuff and switched it out for a D600. So far I have been LOVING it. The first picture I took was obviously of Jake and Trixie. What else would you expect?

Anyway, I'm photographing The Lovely Lunch this Saturday, so I'm excited to put it to the test!

This picture may be blurry? So sorry about that. But then also not sorry because I have so many picture I need to edit. I am to that point where I am using old pictures on here haha.

THE RAIN. / Finding Freddie Fish and the Missing Kelp Seeds as an iPhone app and reminiscing onto other old things, like Math for the Real World, and A Dark Dark Room and Other Scary Stories. / Hanging out with my grandma! She is one of my very favorite people! / My neice using her middle finger instead of pointer finger haha. / Getting back into The Office. / When The Album Leaf came on while we were at brunch at The Harvest Restaurant. / Getting to spend so much time with Jake!! / My neice's surprised face. / Finding out the energy bites I thought weren't healthy actually are healthy! / Huckleberry Diet Pepsi from Slurp! Mmmm.

There were so many great things said this week.

Little boy in my class: "We weren't looking for anything pacific-ly."

My sister: "Emily, have you ever played Simon Says?" She definitely was asking my neice but accidentally called her my name hahaha.

My mom: (referring to the Amazon drones) "What do you do with the drone? Do you have to send it back?"

My grandma: *goes to get in wrong car*

My mom: "Burn some to win some."
My brother-in-law: "Do you mean burn it to earn it?"

My mom: "Haha, no. You weren't very sassy.... You had other problems."

I was at the post office and the guy working at the counter was SO RUDE. He was telling the people in front of me to "print your name. It really isn't that hard. Just do it." I had to rip off my packing label and put it on another box, so the taping was really bad. I finally got to the counter and he looked at me and said, "Did you tape this?" Hahaha. The sass was so real.

My mom: "Costco is wonderful!!!!! If I was a millionaire, I would still go to Costco!!!"

My 3-year-old neice: "Oh Emmy! I am so proud of you!"

Me: "Oh, it should be under $30." *proceeds to explain why*
The Pharmacist: "Oh..."
Me: "That's ok. I'll ask my mom when I get home. Yeah, it's fine. I'll just pay."
Me: *looks at receipt* It was $25 and had been the whole time, I just thought she said $45 haha.

Me: "Ashley isn't texting me back, so I don't know!"
My grandma: "Oh, ok."
Me: "Wait, I never sent it."
*sends it and she texts me back immediately*

Jake: "Remember when you remembered their last name and texted me "BLAIR" in all caps? The first thing that came to my mind was "Waldorf"

Here are some internet things to make you happy. This baby fox getting rescued!!! I die!! Make sure you watch both parts! / My grandma sent me this and it is GOOD. Leah, I think this is the video I was talking about when we were visiting you! You must try this on your cats! / I feel like this hoodie understands the way I think. / The list is long, but these animal photobombs are too good. / If you have a DSLR but are so confused, this cheat sheet is for you.

For some reason I haven't been in the blogging mood lately. I used to read blogs every day and now I suddenly don't care? I have just been reading close friend's and Amber Filllerup's haha. Anyway, life is good. My grandma has been here and it's been great. I feel like she understands me more than anyone else I've ever met! We're just always on the same page and have the same opinions about most things, so it's always nice to visit with her. It will be sad to see her go! But we will be meeting up again in Seattle, so I'm excited.

That's basically what has been up this week! I have weirdly not had any contact with friends? Ha. I swear I had like all these friends I used to hang out with and like 3 of them just ceased talking to me at the same time. Oh well!

But yup. That's basically what has been going on! It's been really fun to just work on projects and not have to worry about school! I'm excited to start working more at the chocolate shop next week! I hope everyone had a good week and found happiness in the little things!

a happy list: 64

Monday, May 4, 2015
Ok first of all I totally forgot I had these! They got buried in all my other things in my "to go on external hard drive" folder. Anyway, we had family pictures done with Jake's family about two months ago! I love love Alyssia. If any of you are in the market for a good photographer, GO TO HER SHE IS AMAZING.

Find a parking spot at Macey's in the first spot in the row closest to the door. Score! (Kind of wondered why it wasn't a handicapped spot though?) / Noosa coconut yogurt. So good. / Trixie being so weird at night lol. She legitimately was like, watching me brush my teeth (which she never does). I thought she had to go to the bathroom, so I took her upstairs. She ran straight to where we keep the treats. Ha! I guess giving her daily treats is making her a little entitled. / Discovering the crispy potato soft taco. / Getting hired on the spot for both of the jobs I interviewed for. / Drying my rainbow roses! They look so pretty hanging in the kitchen and I am excited to keep them forever. / I was trying to feed Skully tuna fish as an apology for making her angry earlier. (I was just trying to put flea powder on her and protect her!!!!) She was being a jerk. Meanwhile, Jake let Trixie in and I guess she instead of jumping on him, or running to her bed or food, she just beelined it STRAIGHT to where I was with the tuna fish. Ha! If Trixie loves anything more than me, it's tuna fish. / Organizing all of our storage boxes. My mom is going to die of happiness when she sees her storage room haha. / Two strangers at Kneader's asking if they could take a picture of my dress.

Here are some funny things people said this week:

My mom: *comes out of her closet with her shirt on backwards and the huge opening that is supposed to go on the back was on the front* "Is this right?"

My mom: "... I'm wonderful."

(This was technically last week but I forgot about it haha.)
*ordering at Taco Bell*
Me: "and that's it."
Employee: "Fiery?"
Me: "Just the Dorito's taco?"
Employee: "Fiery?"

Me: "Danka!" (thank you in German, I think)
Jake: "Dirkin... I don't know how to say you're welcome!"

So yes! Exciting things over here! I got my first real adult job! I'm really excited. I'll be working to help those in poverty obtain an education. It doesn't start until the end of July, though. They'll fly me out to L.A. for training (any L.A. friends?) and then when I come back I'll start. So, exciting but a little far away! However, in the mean time I got a different job! It's at a local chocolate shop and just for the summer, so I'm very excited about that. The fact that I got employed means that we will be able to go on our fun trips! We're going to Albuquerque to visit my grandparents in July and Cabo in December/January. I'M SO EXCITED. I was really worried about getting a job after I graduted, so I'm glad that I got two! Now, I just have to figure out how to work at a chocolate shop and not gain 100 pounds haha.

I hope everyone is having a good week! It looks like it's going to be rainy here and my grandma is coming to visit! So two good things!

San Francisco Video!

Sunday, May 3, 2015
Ok so this is the last San Francisco thing and then I'll done. I promise! So, I feel it's important to note that I did NOT understand the low quality that is iPhone video. So, I apologize. Safe to say I will only be using my GoPro and camera from now on! Anyway, I've decided to do little trip videos from all the trips we go on. You just get a better idea of how it was, in my opinion. So, here's the first!

THANKS AGAIN LEAH. I MISS YOU AND PLEASE COME VISIT ME SOON. <3 <3 <3

P.S. If you live in Utah and want to go to San Francisco or L.A... FLY THROUGH PROVO AIRPORT.

San Francisco: Day 3

Friday, May 1, 2015
This post is photo heavy... sorry. To make up for it, I will use a small amount of words!

Day 3 was great and ACTION PACKED. We went to an Illy Coffee that wasn't really an Illy Coffee, but it still had good hot chocolate. We got turned away from Bob's Donuts because they didn't have any donuts? But Donut's and Things came to the rescue! Then, we went to the beach. It was apparently unusually warm and sunny. Yay!

See what I said about the bangs? Worst.

Oh, bless this picture. This is why I'm not a summer person, you guys.

Next stop: Goldengate park. We walked around and rented peddle boats!

I paid too much for this diet coke, but it was so worth it.

We attempted to "walk around" Japantown, but we were actually starving. So we just ate instead. We got to sit in this cool little booth!

How cute is this guy? I mean seriously.

Skeletor!!! I wanted to ask him how old he was but I'm 90% sure he didn't speak English.

When I took this picture the driver asked me if it was for my Instagram hahahahah.

We went up to the Oakland LDS Temple grounds and watched the sun set.

We ended the night with Starbucks! (Side note: Leah, I noticed while writing this post that I spell Starbucks with an apostraphe. I'm sorry!!! Forgive me!!) The first store we went to was "out of frappuchinos". I had flashbacks to my old store that was always out of everything haha. So, we went to a Target Starbucks. Oh, and pro tip: You can use Target giftcards at Target Starbucks. So, yay for that.

We left the next morning!

It was a very fun trip! Thanks again to Leah and Stephen for letting us stay with them! It was a blast and I'm still LOL-ing about so many things that happened!

XOXO
