Crif Dogs!

We finally made our way down to Crif Dogs in East Village! Hot dogs? A+. Lighting? F. I had to turn these photos black and white because the white balance was so weird.

Anyway! This is a good cheap eats! We decided it's like a hole in the wall the got famous, if that makes sense. I would literally go here weekly if we lived closer, though. I always get these fancy hot dogs with like, tons of stuff on them. Then, I scrape everything off after one bite and do ketchup and mustard? I'm an idiot.

Oh, and yes, they had veggie dogs. Still vegetarian haha. #always

I am obsessed with Daybreak and have always wished there was a Daybreak outside of Utah. This week I finally found a community that is so similar but not in Utah! So that may be in the future ;).

Do any of you watch Suits? Jake does and we decided that Trevor's girlfriend looks like a cat. I came home from work one night and Jake was catching me up on what had happened. He said, "and then Mike's cat found out" and I was so confused because Mike doesn't have a cat in the show? But then I realized that he had literally named that girl Cat hahahaha and was referring to her.

Girl at my work: "Did your... fellow find you?

Me: "My fellow!? You mean my husband?"

Girl "Haha yeah I didn't know how he knew you."

My mom: "It's not worth meeting a dog to put your life in jeopardy."

Chelsea Market!

Good afternoon everybody! These pictures are from the other day at Chelsea Market. Definitely somewhere you need to add to your list.

I'll talk more about this later, but I just wanted it to be the thumbnail for this post becaues HOW AMAZING.

Ok so this artist is amazing. I was telling Jake that if we had a lot of money I would have bought like three pieces right then and there. I don't know if I've seen much art that screams my name, but man do these!

How cute are these lights? Don't worry, there were like 1,000 other people taking pictures in front of me who wouldn't move. So NBD. If you look at this from like a straight on angle it's much more magnificient, but you get the idea.

I don't know if I talk about my love of street art much on here but now you know. I LOVE STREET ART. We were wandering around Chelsea trying to find a donut place (cause national donut day, duh) and happened upon this piece by Invader!! #winning

This is the view from the High Line! Seriously soooo pretty. I know a lot of people think cities are meh, but I honestly think they are the most beautiful thing. It's crazy to think that like, people made this? Ha maybe that sounds dumb but seriously it's such a cool thing to think of like, how far humans have come! 

LIKE SPEAKING OF AMAZING HUMANS. This is a piece (yes, it's art) by Tony Matelli located at the High Line. His stuff is UNREAL! This particular sculpture is called "Sleepwalker" and it looks soooo realistic. I took a picture with it (see here) and I thought that the closer I got the more I would see like, paint strokes or something. But nope! Realistic up close as well. It's there until March 2017 I believe, so add it to your list if you're visiting soon! 

We got donuts from Donut Pub and would 100% recommend.

So, Jake went to BYU for his undergrad. In case you didn't know, at BYU you can't have long hair (or a beard). So basically I have been waiting THREE YEARS for Jake to be able to grow his hair out. It's finally getting long and I am obssed with the "tucked behind the ear" look. <3

Oh, and also for the record Jake wants long hair as well. I asked him this: "If you were on an island all by yourself, what hairstyle would you choose?" His answer was: "Like maybe Jesus hair? Like to my shoulders?" HAHAHA.

LIKE HUMANS CREATED THIS!

Anyway. I would highly recommend spending a day in Chelsea going to Chelsea Market for food (there are tons of places in there) and then wandering around the art scenes.

I forgot how much I love art! I don't know how many of you have been reading since the good ole angsty high school days, but I used to be hella artistic. (See here, here, here, here, here, andddd here.) Oh, and you can't judge me for any of those posts because I was like literally 15. 

Anyway, It's been nice to be back in an environment that promotes that and makes it easy to find! I'm currently working on a canvas for our bathroom that will be pretty funny. I'm excited for all of you to see it!

(After reading all those old posts I'm wondering if I do too many exclamation points lol.)

When I saw the inspiration picture for this month's How We Wore It on Gentri Lee's blog I LOL-ed. 

Like, how fitting. I meant to get a cheap, oversized "I <3 NY" shirt, but I did this last minute and the only store I could find had the fitted. But on the plus side now that I'm wearing the right bra size and don't have saggy boobs, I felt I could pull this off.

Sometimes people who live in New York are like, anti "touristy". But I'm like, "Who cares?" Bring on the touristy vibes!

Levain (Basically The One Place In New York City You Should Go)

Tried the pina colada drink at Grey's Papaya after stuffing our faces with cookies. It was pretty good!

I gotta admit. A lot of the places that bloggers "rave" about are just... ok. Sorry not sorry.

BUT LEVAIN IS SOMETHING ELSE! We walked through Central Park for these babies last week (burned the calories we ate?) and they were AMAZING! The cookies are like $4 and have 800 calories probably, but they are SO GOOD! They're warm, thick, and just the best. We got a chocolate chip and walnut and a dark chocolate peanut butter. 

Oh, and pro tip: Go during the day on a weekday. We had like 2 people in front of us in line and that was it. If you go on a weekend there will be 80,000 people there.

Early mornings in rainy New York City are my absolute favorite. 

I wandered around Bryant Park Friday morning while listening to Phantogram's best album, Eyelid Movies. It was one of those moments that I think I'll remember forever. I don't know what the feeling was exactly, but I just felt... good. And happy. And almost like, elevated. Like that morning I just couldn't believe that it was my life and not a movie. It just felt like a dream, I guess (as stupid as that sounds).

New York is a lot of things, and romantic sure is one of them.

Num Pang!

LOOK AT HOW CUTE JAKE IS!! I have been waiting 3 years for him to be able to grow his hair out and dangggggg. Bb looks good lately! I can't wait for it to be a little man bun <3 <3 <3

We tried Num Pang in Chelsea Market last night! Jake was OBSESSED with his sandwich. Like, he gave it a 10/10. Exact wording was, "My sandwich with that mango drink was a 10/10."

So, I guess you should probably go there, or something.

I Was Right.

I've started this post a bunch of different ways, but I guess I'm just not very good at writing right now. I just wanted to say something to the extent of: loving where I live is awesome. It's no secret I'm not a big fan of Utah. I didn't realize how depressed/anxious I had become there. It's been such an empowering feeling to be in love with my surroundings. I'm so glad Utah can be that for other people, because it's truly an amazing feeling.

On some days, I'm just like, "What is my life? I'm having a picnic in Central Park?" Like, this is the stuff people plan for a vacation and I'm just like chillin' on a Sunday afternoon. I honestly couldn't be happier that I have the greatest husband in the world who just up and moved across the country with me. I don't know where I would be without his chill-ness. I basically get to make all the decisions for our lives (minus a few compromises) and I just can't handle how awesome he is to go along with my crazy ideas.

This took a weird turn, but I guess I'm just glad I was right about my prediciton. I always thought I would be happier if I lived outside of Utah, and I had so many people try to convince me that Utah was a one-place-fits-all. I even started doubting myself and my plans for the future. So, I'm glad that after all is said and done, I was right. I can now feel the way about New York (and other places, too!) that some other people feel about Utah. I love that everyone is different and every personality fits in different lifestyles. It's so cliche to talk about *InDiViDuAlItY* but I think the reason why everyone talks about it so much is because not a lot of people remember that everyone is in fact different. Sometimes it's hard when someone doesn't like something you like, but it's important to remember that you can still be their friend and find things you have in common.

MACARON DONUT!

One of the best things about New York is just walking along the streets and popping into whatever shops look interesting! We found this little baby at FP Patisserie. It was their memorial day speciality! A macaron with chocolate and marshmallows in the middle.

I don't know if you've seen the macaron ice cream sandwiches, but this is the place that does them!

Also, let's all give a round of applause to Jake's photography lately. I've been letting him change the settings and he's been killin' it. I'm sure not being forced to be in cutesy pictures helps hahaha.
