Seattle/Bainbridge: Day 1

FI'm one of those people who feels the need to organize every single aspect of their lives, including my vacation posts. So, that's why we are going in chronilogical order, starting with day one. (Whenever someone says "chronilogical order" I almost always fall asleep immediately, but WAKE UP PEOPLE. THIS IS SEATTLE WE ARE TALKING ABOUT.)

And so it begins...

Note to world: If you do not yet own a Cotopaxi backpack, then go buy a Cotopaxi backpack.

I got the wrong book in the mail, but when the surgeon found an eye, some teeth, and a few fingernails in a kid's brain within the first few pages, it was easy to keep going. ;)

Let it be known that if I ever got a tattoo, this is what it would be. (Except 10x better drawn haha.)

I AM SO SAD ABOUT THESE YOU GUYS. So, they are these little logs sent from heaven at Pike's Place. We got 5 just to taste all the flavors, because we assumed we would be back. Well, long story short we didn't get back to the market until Monday and they were one of the few shops that was CLOSED. It was heart breaking. I felt like a lover who was watching their soul mate board a plane to leave forever. </3

We ended up getting pizza and a caprese sandwich at DeLaurenti. I had them heat up my sandwich and it was SO GOOD. Like a grilled cheese on steroids. 

When you are with Jake and you pass a donut stand, you must stop and taste said donuts. 

When your name is Emily and you see a stand with various flavors of apple cider, you must stop and try all the flavors before deciding on peach.

When you are BB Power Couple you must stop and eat said treats at a park, equal parts excited and horrified at the homeless man you saw doing drugs, and at all the selfie sticks. 

During our walk to the ferry we passed two of the cutest shops ever! I found my uncle the perfect wedding card :) One of the shops had these little crochet/knit kits with different animals. They had a little "Knit Your Own Zombie" kit and I have so much regret for not buying it haha.

The ferry to Bainbridge will always be one of my favorite things :)

We walked from the ferry to our hotel and it was so fun to just observe everything around us. The rest of the night was spent with family eating dinner and catching up. More to come tomorrow!

The Best Shake In The World

Just dropping in here today to say a few things.

A Happy List: 82

Getting the window seat on airplanes. / Seeing landmarks from so high above (Antelope Island and maybe Mt. Rainer?) / My niece in her baby burrito. / When my brother took a selfie with me. (Without me even initiating!) / Jake has been calling Trixie "Richard Anderson" lately, just out of the blue. We think it's funny. Anyway, we hop on our flight and they start playing this little intro video. It starts with, "Hi, I'm Richard Anderson, and I'd like to welcome you to Delta." Jake and I both looked at each other with our eyes so wide and our mouths hanging open in shock hahaha. It was so so funny. / Dried fruit logs dipped in coconut flakes. / Everything about my uncle's wedding. It was so pretty. / When scones are moist and not balls of flour. / PUMPKIN SPICE SEASON AT STARBUCK'S. / How excited Trixie was to see us after we came home from our trip.

A NEW LENS AT LAST

You guys. I have been waiting to buy a wide angle lens for YEARS. I found one on Amazon for $150 and it was no question. For those of you who are like, "What is she talking about and why do I care?" LET ME SHOW YOU. You still probably won't care, but I searched the internet for HOURS to find selfies with different types of lenses and they exist nowhere. (This was research in deciding whether or not I needed a wide angle, mind you:)) So, here you go, internet world. I'm solving your problem of lacking DSLR selfie comparisons :)

Here is a selfie taken on my D600 with a 50mm lens.

Super close to my face, right?! Yikes!!! Alright, this next photo, my friends, is taken at the EXACT SAME LENGTH except with my new 28mm lens.

What? Is that a shirt? Is that a... body?!?! Yes, ladies and gentlemen. I was able to take a picture of myself and get my head AND body in it. Yay for wide angle lenses!!!! 

I am so happy. Life has never been better. We're going to Seattle soon and I am SO EXCITED to finally being able to get those cool trip pictures. I am also excited that we can take pictures together :) I hate hate hate hate asking strangers to take our pictures. They literally always turn out not focused.

Anyway, I'm done. But this lens is totes amazeballs. If you shoot Nikon and need a cheap wide angle, RUN TO AMAZON AND BUY IT. 

I know so many people get annoyed with all caps but it's the only way I can adequately convey my excitement haha. Anyway, if you want to meet irl and shoot please please email me. I want to get back into portraits :)

Smoothie Stad

I know I spelled "stand" wrong haha. There used to be this fruit stand by my sister's house that had huge letters painted on it spelling "fruit stad". It cracked me up, but now it's gone. So, #inlovingmemory

This random smoothie stand popped up in this field by my house. It's kind of strange and suspicious, but also super cute :)

I don't know if I'm the biggest smoothie fan to begin with. I'll probably stick to my water... ahem... not Diet Dr. Pepper... just my water... ;)

P.S. Everytime I use a winky face I'm reminded of that part in The Mindy Project where Morgan is like, "A winky face?! That's like emoji porn!!!!!!" Hahaha.

The Best Camping Trip Of The Year!

Camping at walkup campsites is like, saving thousands of dollars and then giving it to a stranger and trusting them to put it in the bank for you. It's scary and sometimes works out but then also doesn't. Friday night I was a hot mess you guys. I had put so much planning into our camping trip, BUT THEN WE FELL ASLEEP. We woke up at like 7:00 (2 hours after we were supposed to leave) and I was pretty sure we would never find a walkup site that was available, considering the site was like an hour and a half from our house.

Long story short, Balsam Campground was a small heaven. They had not one, but like three sites available at 8:30 pm, so what miracle was this?!?! I literally started jumping up and down with Jake once we found out the site we wanted was available haha.

I'm going to make a guide eventually with all the campgrounds we go to, where they are, how much they cost, and what they look like. For now, though, I'm just keeping track of the cool places we go on this Google Map! Feel free to check it out if you're living in Utah and wanting new places to go. 

We took Trixie again and it was so fun. I love taking her camping with us haha. 

She cuddled with me during the campfire and while we were sleeping. It was so cute haha. I am obsessed with our two person sleeping bag. Best money we've ever spent!

The next morning I woke up like right before the sunrise to find water for Trixie. It was so funny. I seriously felt like I was in The Walking Dead or something. I was still wearing my pajamas and just wandering around by myself with my dog looking for a water source. It was awesome. I'm not hoping for a zombie apocalypse, but if it happens to come I'll be ready! We ended up finding water and Trixie didn't even care. Ha. Such is life.

OK BUT THIS KETTLE. I literally bought this for my mom like 8 years ago because I thought it would be cute to have a tea kettle on our oven. Long story short she used it for potpourri, I washed it like a thousand times, and now it works perfectly for hot chocolate in the morning. We were debating whether or not the "tea kettle whistle" was a real thing or just something they do in movies. Needless to say, when it started whistling we were very pleased. 

It's taken us a second to find our camping breakfast but we're there now! BAGELS. They are so good and I love roasting them. 

I promise I didn't mean to match anything haha. I am still lol-ing because it looks like I am one of those people who is like, obsessed with one color and only wears it haha. 

Trixie dug through this leaf pile for a few minutes and then just walked away? Dogs are so weird lol. 

Bae with second bae. <3.

We love it when she sleeps like this hahahahahhaa.

Can you see the fall colors starting to come in?! YAY. I am NOT a summer person, you guys. I get overheated so easily and hate feeling hot and sweaty. So I am SO READY for fall to be here. The clothes, the leaves, the pumpkin flavors, and not to mention it means we are that much closer to winter!! (Which is the best season of the year, obviously... :))
