slurp upsizing my drink (again) / seeing an entire side of my family who i haven't seen for a while / finally eating at smashburger / crepes with chocolate, strawberries, whipped cream, and caramel drizzle. mmm / putting in my two weeks at work (haha) / reaping the rewards of my mom's trader joe's shopping spree / my sister-in-law's cute baby / the picture of a baby sloth a little kid had drawn at the art show we went to / finally making a decision about graduation and when to graduate / making a huge bed on the t.v. room floor with all of the pillows and removable cushions from the house

some funny things people have said:

(girl i just met through a friend like, ten minutes ago, while sitting and eating at guru's)
Girl: "I hope this doesn't come off as lesbian, but you have really big boobs for your small body frame."
(everyone bursts into laughter for minutes)

(while offering to pamper in various ways, playing with hair and back rubbing had already been turned down)
Me: "Oh oh! What about an arm tickle?"
Jake: "Well, the thing with me is it actually really does tickle."

ah. a good week indeed. lots of school, though. but what else is new, am i right?

XOXO

DECISIONS HAVE BEEN MADE.

Basically here was the issue.
-My birthday is December 19.
-Graduation is December 19.
-I have 36 credits left.
-I am taking 18 credits in the fall. That leaves 18 credits left.

I was originally going to do a lot of school this summer and graduate on my birthday, but then I got a job and had zero time. I will have done 14 credits this summer though, so I'm counting that as a success in my book.

I have decided to graduate in April instead of December for multiple reasons.
#1.) It's only four more months of school.
#2.) I'm still graduating a year early.
#3.) I am getting super emotional and burned out, because of doing so much school.
#4.) I can still get a job and count that for 9 credits of internship, and then take 3 classes that are just fun. Like sculpting or ceramics. So, it really won't be that bad.
#5.) The thing I care about more than anything else is going to a good graduate program. Preferably Columbia or UW, and I need to make my applications for those really good. If I cram all this school, I won't have any time to make my applications good.
#6.) More than anything else, I really need to get good grades if I have any chance of getting in.

This has been a long, painful, emotional decision haha. Many a tear have been shed. Many a hairs have been brushed (because my husband is so awesome). Many a chocolates have been eaten. BUT. I really think this will be better in the long run, so I'm sticking with it.

So, never mind on the whole "hiatus" issue, because I'm back!! Like, in every way. I'm back to showering every day and being hygenic, I'm back to making cute things, I'm back to adventuring. Basically I'm just back to living a normal life that isn't filled with school in every possible minute.

I quit my job, and am just finishing up these two classes. Then we are going to go on a vacation where no school will be thought of and that will be the most lovely.

This probably means nothing to anyone else (but at least you got to see some uber-embarrassing pictures of me when I had no eyelashes last summer), but I have been struggling with this decision for almost a year (ha). So, it feels nice to finally have made a definite choice and to finally have a plan that won't cause me to cry daily because of stress (I didn't cry daily before, but did eat my feelings quite often).

So, yay for life right now! If you have any recommendations of things to do that bring happiness (ex: things to bake, places to go, shows/movies to watch, bands to listen to, things to make) I accept them wholeheartedly, because I now have time! And I'm sooooooo excited haha.

Three more tests and we're done until September 3rd! Wish me luck!

XOXO

So, life is busy as always. I'm finishing up two more classes and they are crazy. Sorry for being MIA but then not really sorry because ya know. Anyways, here are some bridals I took a while ago. If you're interested in viewing the gallery click here.

bike rides

Thursday, August 7, 2014

One of the best things about this summer has been bike rides on an actual bike trail. My personal favorite is when we ride around sunset-time and it's like life is straight out of a romcom. Summer activities like riding bikes reminds me that summer can be enjoyable haha (only when it's not 100 degrees outside).

discovering season 4 of the killing is on netflix / slurp giving me a large instead of small drink (also just slurp in general) / photographing the cutest wedding / root beer flavored italian ice / the rain lately / getting my car back from the mechanic / watching rise of the planet of the apes / ordering a bunch of dresses from modcloth (70% off so obviously a must) / the kids in my neighborhood performing the chinese yoyo (those things are crazy!) / an old man in my neighborhood performing baton twirling

some funny things people have said...

(referring to the old man twirling the baton)
jake: "he's so sprite!!!!"
me: "do you mean spry???"

(a stranger at the wedding i was photographing)
stranger: "you... look... like... target. this is a compliment."

(a woman in my ward)
woman: you know, you look like a china doll. with your skin and your lips and your tights!

(also i feel it's unfair if i don't mention that during a conversation with jake about a car that was $25,000 i said something along the lines of "what!! that's a quarter of a million dollars! sick!")

hahaha. so, all in all, a pretty good week. i got told i looked like a department store and a doll all within two days, so success. also, if you have yet to try the italian ice at mia's you must go. it is perhaps the most delicious in the world.

life snippets

Wednesday, July 30, 2014
This picture serves as a reminder of what happens when I try to "switch it up" and cut my bangs above eyebrow. It's been a rough two weeks, but I think they are finally to a manageable length.

I wish I could stop talking about this but I can't. Dollar Shave Club is one of the best things to happen ever. It's like, $6 a month and they send you this cute little package with a razor and four razor blades. The best part? You get new blades every month! So, you have a new one each week. It's soooo amazing. I keep telling Jake, "Feel my body! Feel it!!" Also, I keep feeling it because I can't even handle how smooth my skin is. Like, these fresh razor blades mixed with coconut oil every day has seriously made my skin like the best its ever been. I could talk about it for so long, so if you ever see me IRL and want a conversation starter, just ask me how I feel about Dollar Shave Club and coconut oil.

Finally got a new car! I'm seriously loving it so much. Like, sooo much.

We tried The Matterhorn food truck the other day, and it was actually pretty good! Jake got french toast with carmel syrup, and I got some $9 piece of french toast be #schoolcelebrations. We initially decided that Kneader's $5 unlimited french toast was a better deal, but then I tasted my french toast and the heavens opened. It literally is the best french toast I've ever had. They have like, little crunchies that are just amazing. I don't even know how to explain it.

Sunsets lately have been so good. This night the sun was red! I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing, but it is definitely super beautiful.

Also! I finally found a Diet Coke with my name on it, and right next to it was one with Jake's name on it. So, that's a cute thing. Also, beuno bars are tres bueno. Eat one if you haven't had one. It's like a small slice of heaven.

Also, I've added a new "Things To Do In Utah" tab with some of our favorite things to do/eat/see in the Utah County area (and surrounding areas). I made this because it's not secret Utah isn't the most exciting of places, but it does have some good things to offer!

If you have any suggestions, leave a comment and let us know!!! We need some new places!

getting an a on my final and also finishing my class / getting a $5 tip / drinking a limca / matterhorn french toast / the episode of modern family where they go to vegas / trixie's dinosaur costume / the 50-year-old customer who complimented my headband / finally going on a sunset bike ride / getting my hair dyed by my nice co-worker who is amazing / watching wicker park (and mega-obsessing)

some LLOL (literally laugh out loud) things people have said this week:

(in the car, driving out of the wal-mart parking lot, headed home)
me: "anyways, but hey. let's go to taco time."
jake: "GEEZ UM! nice move emily!!!! that's why you're here! that's why you're here!!"

(while eating french toast)
jake: i'm a simple man when it comes to french toast.

(my mom walks in the door)
my mom: i'm going to dinner with some friends tonight so i'll be home later.
me: ok. what friends are you going to dinner with?
my mom: emily, you're all up in my business!

(while going through our candy bin)
jake: i feel bad for not eating this candy.
me: it's ok, just throw it away.
jake: but it's like, i don't eat TAFFY in my free time.

definitely posting this a day late, but it doesn't matter because i have been so productive with time i can't even apologize for neglecting this little cyberspace. birthday/graduation is looking more and more like a real thing that can happen!

the 24th of july

Saturday, July 26, 2014
First of all, am I the only one who thinks this holiday is a little strange? Mainly because it only exists in Utah as far as I know, haha, which is just a weird thought. But, it was a good excuse to make this cake I found on Willivia's blog! Without it I would have had to wait a whole year to make it!

The drive up there was absolutely incredible! The canyon was soooo beautiful. The sunset also was like, the most incredible. These pictures aren't even edited.

I'm quite happy I got to take some supa-tumbla-fresh pictures of Jake being a hot model.

It wasn't as crowded as we thought, so yay for that.

Also, can I take a moment and be super corny and just shout out to how amazing being married is? Like it seriously is so fun to have someone who is just on your same page with life, ya know? Also, can we just take a small moment and recognize how amazing my husband is? I mean, he seriously is the best with listening to me rant about things, dealing with all my temotional moments (tired-emotional), and just being the nicest person. We have such different view points on so many things, but it's amazing because it doesn't even matter, because he's just so chill he doesn't need to make me into someone I'm not. I don't know if that makes sense, but I guess all I'm trying to say is that Jake is the most amazing male human I have met ever and I'm obsessed with him.

If you're wondering why we love our Picnic Spots... look at this view!

Can you see the baby fireworks? Haha it was so much fun watching them go off all over the valley. You could hear them too, which I was surprised by!

All in all, it was a good holiday! It was good to get off on our own and spend some quality Luh Time. I wouldn't mind if we made this Squaw Peak peak this a yearly tradition!
