bloggie party dos: spa skin care products

Wednesday, October 8, 2014
*Sorry, some of my old posts were getting spam, so I tried to revert them into drafts and then figured out a better way and reposted them. So, sorry if they show up in your feed!*

So, here's another post I've had queued up for some time. A few weeks ago my dearest floggie (bloggie friend, but let's start this "floggie" thing, am I right?!) Riley told me about this spa night that was happening. Naturally I attended, because how can you not? Anyways, (Wait, remember when people used to write "neways" and then would get sassy if you asked what "knee-ways" was? "Ugh. It's ANYWAYS Emily!!" I sure don't miss those days.) it turned out to be a grand time. Oh, and excuse the iPhone pictures, sometimes you have no choice, ya know?

(See the rest of the profesh pictures here) WHOLE FOODS CATERED. Also, they had fancy sparkling cider, so you know. Just my natural habitat.

Whole Foods made this totally delish crème brûlée with raspberry. Excuse me while I daydream about it forever.

They had a little station where you could customize your own spa skin care products! AMAZING. Their salt is from the Great Salt Lake, which is amazing because it's like rubbing Utah all over your body, literally. Anyways, I decided to go for some creme, because I literally can not stand my hands being dry. Like, I'm not even kidding. If there is no lotion available and my hands have that gross feeling, sometimes I have to lick them or something. What? Moving on.

ALSO THE SPACE WAS AMAZING. Look at the floor!! Like, I can't even you guys. I CAN'T EVEN. It's so brilliant. He said he got most of it from Ikea, so you can bet imma be hightailin' it over there as soon as I'm a home owner.

There were swarms and swarms of women. SWARMS I TELL YOU. Shiz got prettttty cray, if I do say so myself. At one point in the night, they decided to have a pinata with like, mega prizes. They decided to break this pinata and have 150 women SWARM for the prizes. It was how I imagine it will be if Ebola goes airborne and then in the midst of the panic, the CDC drops a small vial of "the cure" in the middle of Times Square. Like, literally it was insane. I think some girl chipped her tooth? Who knows. I instinctively run away from large crowds of people without even making conscious decisions about it.

After the pinata fiasco, we made our own spa skin care product! We picked out the scent we wanted and then got to make our own creme. It was quite neat being a cremea-tier (Like chocolatier, except creme? No?)

Here I am. With my creme. And very happy.

Probably the best party of the night was when we got these robes from Ikea. We had to stop for gas and Leah just hopped out and started pumpin' in her robe. #nofear. But in reality no one even cared. We were quite amused, though.

Do you know how classy it feels to sip sparkling cider in a car while wearing a robe? I literally felt like Chuck Bass could have been there and we would still have outclassed him.

Oh, and I can't end this post without a gif because LOOK AT US IN OUR ROBES I CAN'T EVEN.

Shout out to Salt of the Earth for being the nicest and doing this event. Also, shout out to Riley Jo for inviting me and to Leah for coming and driving. And to Whole Foods for making delicious treats. And to IKEA FOR BEING AMAZING ALWAYS.

Dear Lizzie Tea Party

Tuesday, October 7, 2014
I have no idea why it's taken me so long to post about this, but a few Saturdays ago I put together a little tea party with some bloggie friends. It was sooo fun to meet some bloggers I've followed for a while in real life. Oh, and not to mention Dear Lizzie is the most adorable place in the world.

They didn't have raspberry tea out this time, and I'm way too shy to ask for things like that. So, I tried a caffeine free green tea. It was interesting!

They had blueberry, lemon, and chocolate chip scones! The chocolate chip were to die for.

Dessert was these adorable sugar cookies. I'm really not the biggest fan of sugar cookies AT ALL, but these sugar cookies and the ones are Swig make me reconsider that claim.

Also, this post wouldn't be complete without the tea disasters lol. I added some cream (or something white) to mine, and it totally ruined it and also made it look not cute anymore. Katherine did the same, and then Riley's tea bag broke and the leaves were all up in that. Me and Katherine kept trying to get Riley to ask for new cups (because we are too shy and also she is awesome with doing things like that), but awkward things kept happening ha ha. It was too funny. Who needs tea when you have delicious sandwiches, scones, and sugar cookies?! I mean really.

From left to right, Riley, Katherine, Mila, moi, Kayla, and Leah. I'm thinking doing more meetups would be fun! If you're interested in coming to the next, let me know! Also, if you haven't tea partied at Dear Lizzie yet, you must go immediately!

a happy list: 33

(^^Jake dressed me! He bought me these shoes, so I had him pick out an outfit to go with them, and this is what he chose lol.)

Getting out of class early (twice!) / Girl's night (kinda) with Mila and remembering that we are, in fact, the same person / Speaking with Jake in our "language" (always a good time) / Watching the new episode of Modern Family/Modern Family being back on / Finally getting up at 6! / Ordering my iPhone 6 / Little awkward blogger even with Riley and Leah / Getting my Behavioral Neurobiology test over with / Jake buying me new shoes and writing a cute note / Jake getting my Christmas shopping done (I know, I'm one of those weird people who like to have everything done before December so I can just chill and not stress. Apparently it's rubbing off on Jake as well!

Some funny things people have said this week...

Jake (trying to say "cleavage" but forgetting the word): "Um, center boob... cavern? Cage..."

Jake (trying to get me to do something that I wanted to do when I was done with studying): "If not now... when?" (Quoting Emma Watson's UN speech ahahahah)

My sister calls me...
Sis: "Emily?"
Me: "Sup."
Sis: "What's that taco place called by your house, the one by blue lemon?"
Me: "Taco time?"
Sis: "Ok, just wondering."
Me: "Ok... bye."
Sis: "Bye"

Also, something else weird that has been happening, is car alarms keep going off around me. Like, a couple weeks ago I was walking through the parking lot, and two car alarms went off when I walked by them! This week I got in my car and the car's alarm next to me (on the passenger side) started going off! So weird. Oh, and while studying for my Neurobiology test I realized that PNS (peripheral nervous system) sounds like "penis" when you say it out loud, so there's that.

I took my first test of the semester and didn't do as well as I'd hoped. I have to wait and see what the average was before I get sad though. I have two tests to take this week as well, so wish me luck.

iphone diary

Saturday, October 4, 2014
Hello hello! Here's an iPhone diary, because I've had midterms all this week and have a bunch next week. It's CRAZY. I have this huge lists of posts I want to do, but I keep forcing myself to study or do more productive things instead, so I guess it's good? Taking 18 credits really isn't that hard since I don't have a job, but midterms are INSANE. I kept meaning to post my iPhone pictures earlier, but I kept forgetting. So, here's what the past month has looked like, haha.

I made biscuits from this recipe and they were DELISH / Jake went grocery shopping and brought me home a Diet Coke with my name on it <3 that boy sure knows how to make me happy! / Studying at Enliten Bakery on one of my long school days. They had sprinkle covered cake balls! I still like the recipe I make better, but these sure were cute. / I finally got the stray cat to eat of my hand!! I have named her Skully. At least I hope it's a her, lol.

We went to my sister's house for Sunday dinner for the first time in a longggg time, and I made this chocolate pumpkin bread! It was sooo good! / After school snacks with Skully / Chocolate covered marshmallows from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory are a small heaven / Finally got Skully to eat out of my lap!

Trixie is the cutest, wrapped in a blanket pal. / Jake thought me sitting like this in my chair was cute? LOL / Trixie was wet from the rain, so I swaddled her just to be funny and dumb, and started rocking her. It turns out she LOVES to be swaddled and fell asleep. LOL. / Jake in cute Halloween apparel. I can't wait for our costumes!!!

Every night Trixie jumps up on our bed, and every night we have to pick her up and put her in her dog bed. Although sometimes if we say "Trixie, down" and point to her bed, she will go down there. Such a snob, that one :) / Braids are a lifesaver with 4 day greasy hair! / Feeding Skully yet again / Jake falling asleep while studying at school hahahahahah

Neat messages in the fourth floor bathroom of the ESC. I was surprised to see it at such a conservative, private school! / Homework snacks / Swaddling Trixie again. Excuse my silky pajamas haha. But, she just laid there for like an hour in between me and the couch cushions. She loooooooves the swaddle hahaha.

Campus is starting to look really pretty in the early mornings! / I'm trying to domesticate Skully, so I have been trying to get her to come inside and eat for foreverrrrr. She finally did! Hahaha! / Pinterest makeup tutorial! It's supposed to be "model day off" eyes?? Haha. Not sure if it hits that mark, but it's a nice change from red lips and cat eye. / Ah, Guru's sweet potato fries and Diet Pepsi are the only acceptable snacks while studying for Behavioral Neurobiology exams.

This fall crisp has been PERFECT. I love studying outside in the mornings. It's such a perfect temperature. / Did you know if you study upside down, you learn better? Lol jk, but honestly sometimes it feels so good to sit like that. Idk why haha. / Jake had a little trail mix friend on his hand while studying for Geology. Look how cute!! / Eating a fry-person at The Wall. Hahah I love the frysauce arms.

anniversary!!

Wednesday, October 1, 2014
Hello hello! Happy first day of October. Halloween is almost here, yay! I thought I would share some of my favorite pictures from our anniversary shoot with Mila. I was so worried about what to wear that would look "classic" but also show my style a little bit, so when eShakti contacted me about reviewing one of their custom fit items it was perfect.. I honestly am so obsessed and I'm not even just saying that. I chose this skirt, because every girl needs a striped skirt as a staple for their wardrobe, am I right? So, you customize it by your hip size, hip shape, thigh, under bust, and waist. You can also specify what type of skirt you want, like above knee, knee length, ankle, and more. (I'm just telling you now, this is PERFECT if you're like me and got married and then realized none of your clothes will work with garments (shout out to my fellow mormons!)).

Anyways, basically I am just obsessed, because I'm so tired of buying clothes online and then having them be too short, and not being able to find anything my style at the mall. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like knee length things that aren't "mom-ish" are hard to find, at least in my budget #poorcollegestudent. Anyways, if you're sick of no clothes being nice to your religion, check them out! Here's their website, Facebook, Pinterest, and Instagram.

OH, and until October 29, 2014, you can get 10% off using the code "thelittlediary", so hurry on over and get clothes that are cute and customized!

Special thanks to Mila for taking these amazing photos for us, and also to eShakti for sending me the skirt of my dreams.

XOXO
