the oldest cemetery

My grandma has a really neat cemetery just a little walk from her house. It's super cool with really old walls and headstones! I wonder how long it takes for a stone wall to deteriorate that much?? 

The coolest headstones in the world are there!

A lot of them were obviously hand carved. Isn't that crazy?! In my sculpting class we had to carve something from a huge rock, and it took forever! Mega props to these dudes.

I wonder what the "bride" is for on this one? Any ideas?

Jake and I wanted to know what she was martyred for. So sad!

Some of them were literally just stakes with like, plastic or metal. It sort of made me feel bad that they didn't have any other options. I don't know, maybe it's a religious or cultural thing? 

Some were so old you couldn't even see the engraving! So crazy.

And lastly, a crescent moon to finish the night off. It was such a nice little walk exploring such an old cemetery!

spokane day 3

We started off the day with a scenic walk through Manito Park to Rockwood Bakery! All the little houses in there are so cute and unique. I would love to end up there one day!

There was the biggest willow tree in the middle of the park. I seriously felt like we were witnessing the Womping Willow.

Rockwood Bakery, folks! Sooo delicous and sooo cute. Jake got a ham and cheese croissant and a juice. I got a hot chocolate and cranberry orange scone (since I never got to try one at Starbuck's in my time there. The raspberry swirl cake was just too good, ya know?). My hot chocolate was seriously the most perfect temperature and so delicious. Another hit for the books!

So many scenic ponds and areas. I can't even!

After breakfast we got some flowers and went to visit my grandpa's grave. It's by far the highlight of every trip!

We went on a walk that night to a different cemetery by my grandma's house, but I'll save that post for tomorrow, because there were soooo many cool, old headstones I want to share!

spokane day 2

My grandma mentioned there was a donut place with zombie donuts, so naturally we had to make it a priority. Although, I do feel it's important to note my love for aliens, because I feel like that is going to be the next big "thing" and then everyone will claim they love aliens and The X-Files and Jake and I will have really been watching it the whole time like #originalhipsters. Anyways, back to the zombies!

How cute is this little zombie donut?! I am literally so obsessed.

Have I mentioned my husband is a super attractive-mega skilled-zombie killer? Well, he is. As you can see.

I don't know which is more important in this photo. The Dawn of the Donut truck with zombie blood prints all over it, or the "Asian World" sign in the background! Lol!

Jake got a Brain. Or an apple fritter with raspberry glaze, if you will.

I couldn't NOT get this little guy. Look how cute he is!! Lesions and all :). He even had raspberry filling. Gory for some, but amazing for us!

After getting our donut fill, we headed down to Riverfront Park.

The river was so beautiful!!

Never got to see what this "wall of little heroes" was about, but with a title like that I'm sure it was interesting!

THE TRASH EATING GOAT. You just push a button and he (a suction) sucks your trash right up!! So clever, so clever.

Giant wagon that doubles as a slide? Ok.

Ah. Alas, folks. Here's a picture of me not posing for a picture Jake is taking of me, because I'm too excited to finally eat an almond pretzel with caramel sauce. After waiting 6 minutes for it to be baked, waiting 3 seconds for a picture is just too much! (Although, apparently there is one in Utah in South Jordan or something... so I've just been missing out!)

We took Jake to get a D'lish hamburger! Their fry sauce has pickles in it or something, and is super delicious. Also, the fries... ah the fries! Jake's verdict on the burger was that it was one of the best he's had. So, a success in our book. 

We ended the day with a delicious Italian dinner!! As you can see by the look on Jake's face, it was a good day ;)

spokane day 1

We headed out bright and early in the morn, which was nice because once we got there we had the entire day. Jake looks really angry in this photo, but I promise he was also excited to be "trip bbs".

Breakfast traditions! I literally can not fly anywhere without getting a hot chocolate at the airport. Jake seems to be keeping with McDonald's as well :).

Morning braid practice on the plane. You can't beat that morning light + a plane window.

My gram is the cutest ever and bought us all of our favorite treats!! 

After we got settled, we went to the Japanese garden! I didn't take any pictures, because it was too pretty to peel my eyes away from, but Jake snapped this. I hope someday to have a Japanese garden in my backyard! There were a group of girls there singing on the bridge? It was kind of weird, but they were good so it was nice, but they were dressed like normal people, so we had to wonder what on earth they were doing there.

We drove by another garden... I can't remember what this one was called. It was gorgeous, though. 

We took a quick walk through the rose garden as well! So many gardens, so little time. :)!

We went to Azteca with my uncle and grandma that night, and I didn't take any pictures because I was too busy scarfing down my nachos because THEY ARE THE BEST NACHOS. But, it was literally the weirdest restaurant experience. There was a hostess at the front, and so we walked up to her and she told us to seat ourselves. So, we sat on the porch (which was only for 21+ so #rebellife) and then another employee asked us if we needed menus, and we were like, "Yes..." Then he brought them and it was just so weird. I felt like they were annoyed that we didn't know exactly what we wanted LOL. But then they brought out the most delicious nachos and all was forgiven.
