New York Trip: Day 4

Guys this day was CRAZY. My mom wanted to go the the Statue of Liberty, and I agreed that I would only go if we went like super early to avoid the crowds. I told her I would meet her at their hotel at 8 so we could catch the ferry. Ok well for some reason when I woke up that morning I thought I had to leave my apartment at 8. So I was getting ready at 7:45 and then it hit me and I freaked out! I booked an Uber to take me right there and was like texting her telling her to book an Uber and meet me there haha. So finally after 45 minutes I arrived at Battery Park, but I still had to find my mom. I'm not kidding you when I say we went through security, got on the ferry, and it took off 2 minutes later! 

There were so many tourists holding up a thumb to the statue and taking a picture. Lol! What is that all about?!

We stopped at Ellis Island too so my mom could see where her grandparents came over from Italy. This was her first selfie! Does it count if someone else is in it? Idk.

When we got back to Manhattan, we ate lunch at Pret A Manger. Their green goddess wrap is SO GOOD. I am obsessed with pine nuts and avocados. We also tried their peach cobbler cookie which was A+.

We met up with my grandma at the 9/11 Memorial and walked around for a bit.

We walked over to Chelsea Market next! We stopped at Gansevoort Market too but decided to eat somewhere else.

So remember how I posted this picture on my Instagram? Well my mom thought I was literally with some naked guy lol! She was so creeped out by this statue that she couldn't even touch it.

It is so funny to watch people to try to get this piece in a square Instagram photo.

I literally can't remember what we did for dinner this night, but I know it was A+.

New York Trip: Day 3

Hi! Day 3 yay! This was the day I got to eat my very favorite food in all of New York City: the pretzel croissant from City Bakery. (Side note, there is a bakery in Soho that says "Vesuvio Bakery" on the outside, but they do sell pretzel croissants! They said they are called "Bird Bath" and are like little City Bakery, but I'm like then whey does the sign say something else?!)

Also, I really don't like the hot chocolate here, but my grandma was OBSESSED with it haha. It was seriously the funnieset thing to see see her fangirl over something I hate so passionately. I'm glad someone liked it!

Can we all have marshmallow walls in our houses please?

Afterwards we walked around the Union Square Farmer's Market. My mom literally got fruit lol. I tried some maple candy that was delicious and we all drank some organic juice. I love farm fresh foods!

Also, while we were here there was this guy who was singing and dancing. A few days later we were at breakfast and my mom was like, "Do you guys see that guy? Take a long, hard look at him. You know him!" And so me and my grandma were like, trying to figure out where we were supposed to know him from. Then, my mom was like, "He was the guy who was singing and dancing at the market!" I was like, "100% NOT THE SAME GUY." The first guy was easily 20 years older and a completely different race lol.

After the market we walked to the Empire State building. We took a few breaks on the way there.

 One was at the flat iron building! My mom was like, "What is this building?" And I was like, "This is the building in your picture downstairs!" Hahaha. We already walked through Eataly but didn't get anything because we were still full. I did show them the most amazing Nutella Bar though.

It was a good time to go the the Empire State building. There really wasn't too long of a line. Like tell me how all the people in the movies get to the top so fast! Jeez Hollywood, way to construct lies!

OK LOOK AT THIS BIRD'S FOOT. My mom was making fun of me because I am 100% convinced they are a tourist attraction. Like, someone deformed their feet so they can't fly off of the building, that way everyone is like, "Oh look! This bird!" and takes 100 photos. I was talking to my mom and was like, "Oh look a bird! That's crazy it's just chillin' here. Oh wait look at it's foot! I bet it can't fly away. I bet the Empire State building did this to it on purpose so it will be here for tourists. I hate the Empire State building!" She was like, "Oh my gosh! You went there so fast! It's probably just natural!"

I don't buy it. There were too many deformities on too many birds...

Now I know where I get my sass from! We were trying to figure out where the World Trade Center memorial was. My mom kept talking out loud about it, so finally my grandma went and asked someone. As my grandma was asking the guy, my mom turns to me and said, "I'm glad she's asking so I'm not the one who looks dumb!"

After the Empire State building we went to Sweet Green for dinner. Their peach salad is SO. GOOD. It's like baby spinach, goat cheese, peaches, candied walnuts, and balsalmic I think? 

My mom and grandma's hotel was right next to Carlo's Bakery. We were like, "Oh, let's hop over and get some treats!" So we go in and there is a huge line. We thought it was just popular, we didn't understand the line was literallly NOT MOVING. So, like you order your food and then you stand in another line waiting for them to call your name to pick it up. So we literally waited like 45 minutes for 2 cupcakes and a brownie. AND THEY FORGOT THE BROWNIE!!! Anyway, we finally realized it was the Cake Boss bakery and were like "Duh." Haha. Like it was good, but I would never wait in that line again.

New York Trip: Day 2

Sunday was our Upper East Side day! We start on the West Side with Jacob's Pickles. That's seriously the best breakfast in New York City IMO. I miss it every day of my life. Their root beer is SO GOOD. 

Then, we walked back to my apartment through Central Park. We stopped at Pick A Bagel and got the best black-and-white cookie in New York City (for real) and then chatted at our apartment. I took them to Flying Tiger for a bit and showed them the amazing-ness that is that store. 

This was our old apartment building on the Upper East Side!

For dinner we went to a new place Jake and I have been dying to try, Caliexo! They had this tofu taco that was SO. GOOD. Also the chips and guac were good too. It had a really cute atmosphere. I would definitely recommend! 

Ok, also did I ever tell you guys the Jessica Lange story? I'm pretty sure I did. Give me a sec to find the post. Found it! K go read it here if you want to know because I don't want to type it again lol. But this is where we were when we saw her! We got cheesecake from Two Little Red Hens. It was all of our first slice of New York cheesecake. It wasn't bad, but to be honest my all time favorite cheesecake is the salted caramel from The Cheesecake Factory. Mmmmmm.

New York Trip: Day 1

I am disappointed in myself for just now getting to these posts, but it has been a crazy couple weeks! Literally my mom and grandma came to visit, left on Sunday, and we moved like 8 days later. 

They were originally going to come visit in the fall when it was cooler, but we knew pretty quick after moving to NYC that it wasn't going to be a permanent thing. So, I told my mom and grandma to come sooner rather than later. It really wasn't that hot most the time, except the last day or two. OH MY GOSH. Like those subway stations in the summer are unbearable! 

Anyway, on to the photos:

They got in relatively late on Sunday. I had this great idea of going to the airport to greet them. I tried to take public transportation to get there, but after 2 hours I gave up and booked an Uber lol. I got off the train in Queens and was totally lost and couldn't find the train, so what do ya do. I do not miss how long it takes to get places in New York City haha. I ended up getting there right when they were getting their luggage. It wasn't a surprise to my mom, but it was to my grandma so yay! 

We went back to the hotel and dropped off their stuff. We had dinner at Shake Shack which was so packed we couldn't even find places to sit. We ended up standing all packed on this little table with a bunch of strangers. I still will never understand why people save a table before they have their food. Like THAT IS HOW THE TRAFFIC JAM HAPPENS PEOPLE.

Anyway, after that we went to Time's Square. Honestly, Times Square is like my LEAST favorite neighborhood in Manhattan, but like all visitors stay there so what can you do lol. We walked around and took the obligatory Time's Square photos.

This is my mom's face after seeing numerous naked people. It was honestly the best timing because I had been telling her that there were naked people and people dressed up and I think she wasn't really believing me. Nothing like 3 naked women painted like the American Flag to welcome you to Time's Square haha. 

We got some treats at Baked By Melissa! I am obsessed with that palce. They are so little but they are only $1 so it's a win win. I got the salted caramel macaron (delicious) and a cotton candy cupcake that I am still dreaming about to this day. (Seriously, if someone has a recipe for that send it my way!)

That's pretty much all we did on the first night! I honestly didn't take that many pictures on this trip. My mom and grandma are so funny haha. We just laugh so much when we are together because one of us is always doing something dumb! Quite the time, quite the time.

P.S. I am counting this as a trip because I didn't have to work and finally did all the fun New York stuff I had been dying to do.

Past Boob

UGH CAN WE TALK ABOUT GROWING OUT BANGS? I am so glad I am working from home because they are cray all the time. I'm hoping in like a month they will be long enough to do swoop bangs, but alas.

Also I have been mainly wearing my hair in braids, so when I wore it down the other day I was like, shocked. It is DEFINITELY past boob. I remember the days where I was just dreaming about the day my hair would be past boob and now that day is here! 

I still try to not use a lot of heat or dye it. But, I did get this hot tools set that I am loving. The little baby straightner is perfect for traveling and also just cute and little lol. I like the tapered curling wand because I feel like it makes it so my curls don't merge into one. Do you know what I mean?

Anyway, if anyone has hairstyle ideas for while straight across bangs are growing out plz let me know!
