plot twist

Wednesday, August 28, 2013

Isn't my puppy so cute?
Often times I can't even handle it.

Well, in all strangeness I actually got my financial aid! I used that calculator and it said 1.99, but then when my class actually got added in, I ended up with a 2.0. Which, is definitely pathetic, but hey, at least I got my federal grants!

Do any of you read the blog Haircut and General Attitude? Well, she wears leggings like this with her dresses, and being someone who recently had a slight wardrobe change, it has literally saved me! She gave me a link to where she gets hers, and gosh.

Ask me if I've worn these three days in a row.
The answer is yes.

I got this dress for my high school graduation. It was the first dress I bought that wasn't patterned or edgy. So, that was an accomplishment.

I took these photos on Sunday while waiting for Jake to get off work. My mother went for a walk, so I hit up the backyard for some pics! The lighting wasn't what I wanted, but what can you do.

P.S. I forgot to mention... I've had these shoes since the 9th grade and they never fail to be my absolute favorites. Good thing I don't wear heels often!

we all fade sometimes

Sunday, August 25, 2013

So, Tuesday night wasn't really the coolest.

I had work from 12-8:30. While I was at work I received some bad news regarding my eligibility for financial aid. So, I came home and took a shower, but then Jake fell asleep at like 9:30. So, I was just feeling like a loser ha ha. Also, really lonely and depressed. It usually helps to have my dog, just cause she is so cute and my bff, but she isn't here. So, I tried to go to sleep, but couldn't. I decided to text some of my friends to see if they could make me feel better. One of my friends said something that was sort of, odd, to me. You'll have to tell me what you think.

"Make your life about the small and short sighted things. Don't have high expectations for yourself, you'll never be disappointed."

I don't know. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like although high expectations can be damaging and hard to achieve, they can help us be the best person we can be. If we never expect anything amazing from ourselves, we will never be able to do anything amazing. I don't know, maybe I'm crazy or wrong?

But, basically I wasn't really in the mood to throw away all my dreams because they were too high, so I decided to go for a drive to a local viewpoint. I wanted to photograph the moon, but it was pretty cloudy, so I just hung out and listened to Dashboard like a true emo would. Lol.

I didn't fall asleep until 2, but what else is new. No rhyme intended.

I feel like karma's going to really pay out though you know? I mean, only so many unfortunate things can happen to us before the good things start. So.... good things I give you permission to start.

night

Friday, August 23, 2013

So, the other night we went on a walk to the duck pond. It turns out there were like a million people there, which should have been expected. But, I wanted to try to take those photos where the shutter speed is like 10 seconds and you can do cool arm moving things. Do you know what I'm talking about? Anyways, I wanted to take some of those, and for some reason none of the files will import to my computer!

Do you guys know how to fix this? Or just like what settings are best for those types of photos?

Help needed!

P.S. How awesome is that cement? We found it on the walk home and figured that we must be living in Safety Not Guaranteed, and went into the future and put that there so we would be able to find each other, if we hadn't already. Lol.

wedding tres

Wednesday, August 21, 2013

Well, wedding season is definitely in full swing around here. Aside from our own, we've already been to two, and we have two more coming up! Five weddings in one summer folks, that's the way it's done.

It turns out weddings are a lot more fun when they aren't your own, ha ha. This was my sister-in-laws and it was gorgeous! I felt like Chuck and Blair were going to walk in at any second.

Speaking of Chuck and Blair, I bought the final season and it got sent to my mom's house. So, after three days of waiting, she finally brought it to my work, where I left it sitting on the floor. I'm not scheduled again until next Tuesday! Ah! I would just swing by and get it, but it takes 30 minutes to get there. I don't know. It's actually probably worth it. Serena was just so annoying in that final episode. Plus we all love us some Dan Humphrey.

FAN GIRLING OVER.

In other news, I am considering changing the title of this blog to "Almost". Here's how it went.
Fall 2012: did really bad and got a low gpa, and got placed on academic warning.
Winter 2013: tried really hard to raise my gpa, and ended up with a 1.96, meaning I was .04 away from a 2.0 and got placed on academic probation.
Summer 2013: took two independent study classes to raise my gpa to a 2.0, in order to get my financial aid. In my most recent class, I needed to get a 92%. Guess what I got? A 91.32%. Consequently, my gpa is a 1.99. LIKE ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Guy, I am missing out on literally thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars because I am .01 away from the gpa requirement.

Worst. Luck. Ever.

IF YOU ARE JUST STARTING COLLEGE DO NOT TAKE IT EASY AND BREEZE THROUGH YOUR FIRST SEMESTER OR YOU WILL REGRET IT FOR THE REST OF YOUR COLLEGE CAREER.

Anyways. I photographed the moon last night, but it was cloudy. So, that tomorrow.

costa vida, starbucks, and house at the end of the street

Monday, August 19, 2013

Well, folks. My apologies for the hiatus this little space took. I finally finished my online class (woohoo!) but unfortunately did not achieve an A- and consequently will not receive my financial aid for the 2013-2014 school year (boohoo!). But, whatever. I really did try my hardest, as lame as that sounds. So, personal victory.

In other news, these photos are from Thursday when I went out with my friends from work. Everyone who works there is quitting. I've only got two more days and then I'm off like a dirty shirt. Yi! Let's take a moment and reflect on some of the things I will NOT miss about the dinosaur museum...

  • Wrong pronunciations of things such as Turken Bacon (really Turkey Bacon) and mini Trex meal (really T-Rex meal).
  • People never specifying what size of popcorn or drink they would like. I.E. *walks up* "I would like popcorn and a drink!" "Ok, what size of popcorn and what size of drink?" "Where are you sizes?" "They are right in front of your face." (Ok, I don't respond like that, but good heavens it's almost necessary.)
  • The constant ordering of pretzels. Ex: Last time I worked a table ordered four pretzels in separate transactions. I finally watched them eat the last one, and they would literally put it in the center of the table and all four adults would share it. Like, when you came up for a second pretzel why wouldn't you just get one for each person instead of coming up for multiple transactions?
  • Old mean people. Like, I'm sorry you can't hear very well sir, but I am literally yelling your pretzel options so don't give me sass.
  • When people don't specify what chips they would like. "What comes in your mini T-Rex meal?" (By the way, this could almost be one in itself, like read right under where it says "T-Rex" and you will find out!) "Chip or applesauce and one of those little drinks." "Ok sounds great! We will have a grilled cheese mini T-Rex meal." ........ "Ok... Would you like chips or applesauce." "Chips." (I always give them a couple seconds to see if they are just thinking or if they really are that dumb.) "Ok.... What kind of chips would you like." "Oh! Let's do the baked lay's."
  • People standing by the glass and watching you make their food. Like. Just no. Just no.
  • Kids who spill their drinks. And parents who leave it there.
  • When customers claim there is something missing/not included in their sandwich. I.E. The couple that claimed there wasn't any bacon on their sandwich, which me and my coworker made together (she baked it and I put on the sauce), and definitely put bacon on. The woman who specifically told me her daughter wanted a BLT with no lettuce and ranch dress. "So, only bacon, tomatoes." *little girl pipes up saying she wants mayo* "Ok, so only bacon, tomatoes, and mayo." "Ok, no problem your total is a million dollars." We then take our her sandwich and she sends it back saying there wasn't supposed to be mayo...
That's all I can think of right now, but I'm sure Michelle could list off way more. Now, things I will miss about the little dinosaur museum.
  • Mattie eating popcorn like a cat.
  • The little treats coworkers bring in for people's birthdays.
  • People who say "oz" like The Wizard of Oz, instead of ounce.
  • Free soda.
  • Finding expired or damaged chips and eating them.
  • Eating broken pretzels.
  • The honey mustard!
  • Working with awesome people who make me LOL on a regular basis.
It was a good job, but it's run it's course and now I am off to not really bigger or better things, but just equal things, I suppose.
I plan to open an Etsy shop and see if I can't sell some prints or something. Heaven knows I have enough paintings hoarded everywhere.

Be nice to the person taking your food order, ladies and gentlemen. Karma will slap you straight in the durn face if you aren't.

Cute food at Lindsey's bridal shower!

Have you ever had Eli's root beer? Pretty sure it's the best ever.

  1. eighteen dollars
Dang! Well, sorry to be MIA!
Things that have been happening lately...
- school
- working
- events

So... boring. Lindsey's bridal shower was cute. How cute of an idea is it to play bridal bingo?! CUTEST.
Jake and I went to the flea market today. It really wasn't super cool. There was just a lot of junk and it was overpriced. I did get a cute shirt for $10. So, that was good. I randomly wanted an antler, so that was weird considering my attitudes towards hunting and animals. This skull thing was super cool though. I really wanted to paint it and then use it on my table ha ha. But, then I realized I didn't have a kitchen table... and also that it was $35... so there went that dream.

That's pretty much been it though. I should finish up my class on Wednesday, so that will be exciting. We will then see whether or not I get my financial aid! Ah!

take me out baby i want to go sail tonight

Thursday, August 1, 2013

Hola, amigos.

For starters, I took these photos at like 7 in the morning and I definitely like photos before sunset better. I just feel like the light was weird? I don't know, maybe it was all the ghost bodies floating around.

Anyways! Skip N' Whistle was the kindest human (company?) to send me this shirt! OMG SUGAR SKULLS WHAT IS BETTER NOTHING OK. They're probably one of my new favorite stores. Like, any place that sells sugar skulls, unicorns, and robots is definitely going to be my favorite ever.
There are probably few things I want more than that  second unicorn sweater. (Someone tell Jake? Christmas pajamas? What?)

Oh, and also the black tights I am wearing are almost complete un-wearable. I've sewed the toe holes soooo many times, and they awesomely ripped right down the crotch (I lol every time I see that), but I can't get rid of them because I don't have any others! If anyone knows of somewhere that has good opaque tights, I'm all ears.

Have a lovely Thursday.
