From the day we went to the park.

I quite like the park. It's just too bad I live in the middle of Suburbia where there are millions of children and mothers and families all over the place. It definitely makes it a little more... hectic. However, I did find a new bike trail by my house, so I think I'm going to check it out tonight. I think it goes down to the pond behind the high school. Pear haps a new reading nook.

From the day we registered for our wedding.
Let's just say the woman who was explaining it to us really liked to talk.
However, we got some sodas and hit that place up.
29 days left, my friends.

Don't forget google friend connect is shutting down July 1st, so go make the switch!
You can follow me here.

On saturday, we went shopping and I got two bikinis for Cancun! Seriously swimsuits are so terrible for me to buy. Anytime they fit my chest, they are way too huge for my waist and stomach! It's the absolute worst. Bikini's are either not my size or make me look like a porn star ha ha ha.

However, we went to Dillard's and they had some beautiful, beautiful swimsuits! I got two and OMG I CAN NOT WAIT TO WEAR THEM. They fit perfectly.

Also, I found this camera on KSL for $25 and my mother got it for me for my birthday. I first wanted one after reading Abhaya's guest blog post on my blog! Her photos were absolutely beautiful! So, I went out and found one and can't wait to document the winter with it!

Have a lovely Wednesday.

First and foremost, google friend connect is almost gone! So if you're still using it go make a Bloglovin' and make sure you follow me there or we will lose each other forever!

Finally discovered the most perfect macaroons in the world at the most perfect sweet shop in the world.

Other than that, that's pretty much all we did on this Salt Lake trip.

Now, I'm catching up on the seven episodes of Awkward. that I've missed. Man, I've missed the wit and sarcasm of this show.

Hope you're having a lovely week so far.

This guest post is from one of my favorite bloggers, Hippie Go Lucky! Her photography is absolutely beautiful!

Also, don't forget that GFC is going to be gone on July 1, so go follow my blog and her blog if you want via Bloglovin!

5 little things that make me happy…

1. Her “I don’t really like that” face. Her name is Zoë. We rescued her 4 years ago. She is quirky, stinky and way too hungry.

2. Listening to my dad sing. This is his typical singing face. This picture is so precious to me. I think he was singing I’m Sexy and I Know It. (kidding!)

3. Those sweet sweet kisses… with his hands and everything. His name is Maël, he’s my curly haired, charming and naughty little brother.

4. Laughing with friends. Cliché, I know, but I can’t get enough of it.

5. Looking at old pictures of me and him. I love the feeling of nostalgia.

Thanks Emily for having me! It felt refreshing to blog somewhere else for a change! I’d love to meet you all and know what little things make you guys happy! Come on over to Hippie Go Lucky and tell me! x

Due to the fact that I would like macaroons at the wedding, I have now tasted about all there is to taste in/around Utah County. I figured I would do something with this new found knowledge of macaroons and give you the low down on where has the best ones.
BYU: They're not very good. They're really crunchy and crumbly.
Whole Foods: They're decent, but just really small, so they don't look super cute. But, if you are in the Salt Lake area, it wouldn't be the worst to pick some up.
One Sweet Slice: These are the ones pictured above. They are also really small, but they are pretty cute. They sort of just take like sugar in a different form. I wouldn't recommend making the trip to Sandy, unless you are already there. Like, literally at that store for some other errand. And don't get coconut, it's not pleasant.
La Bonne Vie: LITERALLY SO GOOD. LITERALLY THE BEST EVER. I got one of each, just because they were the last macaroons that we hadn't tasted, and I wanted to be able to taste all of them. Like, I can't even explain to you how delicious they were. They were the perfect texture, the perfect size, the perfect everything. This cute little place is located in the Grand America hotel in Salt Lake, and literally I am making the 45 minute drive to get some more and order them for my wedding! If you ever need macaroons, seriously, save yourself the trouble and stress and just go there! It is absolutely the cutest ever! SO HAPPY.

My mother and I saw Sconecutter on our way to try the macaroons at One Sweet Slice. Years and years ago, there was a Sconecutter in Orem and my sister and brother-in-law were obsessed with it. My sister even drove all the way to West Jordan the other day to get one! So, we were really excited to get them, but they ended up not being what we remembered, which was sort of a bummer, but hey! At least we got to get a reality check!

My lovely brother-in-law got my air conditioning fixed!! It's so nice to not be sweating every time I get in my car between the hours of 10:00 and 7:00 now. The world is mine.

Just some happy things of the week for you.

XOXO

park city, utah

Friday, May 24, 2013

This past weekend (well, technically it was Thursday night) Jake and I went to The Montage in Park City for a work party for his dad's work.

Some diet coke was sipped.
Some bowling balls were thrown.
Some hot tubs were occupied.
And, some bedside chocolates were eaten.

It was a great night and definitely worth the drive. I never realized how beautiful Park City was. I mean I've only ever been to the ski resort and then a condo somewhere, but driving through it made me see that there's tons more. It all looked so cute and cozy. All the houses all bunched together at one particular part of town reminded me of looking out over Chamba when I was in India, and just being able to see all of the different colored houses all bunched together, like some sort of community family.

All in all, I think I'm a Park City fan! I can't wait for the arts festival (or whatever it is they have) in August!

P.S. Oh, and if you haven't noticed, I got Photoshop back! My school offers an insanely generous discount, so I decided to take the plunge and buy it. Plus, my sister wants to install the second installation on her computer, so we're splitting the price. Look who the universe likes now!!!!!

Film photography...kind of thing of the past, right? Well, thankfully there are a few diehards out there who still appreciate the beauty of film. There are lots of reasons why people love to use film still, but of all of the reasons, the one that gets me is the magic of it. I love not knowing what exactly you will capture when you click the shutter. I also love forgetting about the film until you get it developed, and having that moment where you open the packet to see what's inside...pure bliss. :) Today I thought I'd share a few of my favorite film photos with you all.

This first one is, of course, the iconic Brooklyn Bridge. There are probably a million photos out there of this same view, but this photo has the unpredictability and special marks that my camera gave it, so it seems a little extra special to me.

The above two are from the neighbor's yard when we lived next to some chickens. The fence was super tall, but I found this little knot in the fence, and caught the chickens in action after I threw some kitchen scraps out for them. I love the light leaks in these - so pretty!

The bottom picture is from Mono Lake in California. Mono Lake looks otherworldly already, but this picture really makes it look like the moon! None of these photos have been edited in any way, and were taken with a Holga CFN120. I know there are a million apps and filters that can do this to digital photos, but I love making the memory-making process that much more special. When you shoot with film, you can't just snap away until you get the "perfect" shot; you take one or two and hope for the best. Thanks, Emily, for letting me share these photos with y'all today! And if you'd like to see more of my (more often digital) pics or get to know me better, come see me at my blog, Abhaya. Over there, I share about all sorts of things, but generally travel and wanderlust, my love for the woods and mountains, yoga and holistic living, and occasional DIYs and recipes. xx sondra

5 20 2013: gallery stroll

Monday, May 20, 2013

Friday night I decided to hit up Salt Lake’s gallery stroll. I picked up a friend and we headed up there.

We ended up parking in the ghetto and walking past homeless people, only to go to the convention center and sit down on a bench. We decided to try to find a Trax station and go to Blonde Grizzly, because they have the coolest art. I looked up their current exhibit and it turns out it was something Star Wars, so we decided to go to the Photo Collective gallery instead. It turns it out it was right by where we parked in the first place, and it was super cool!!!

It was a loft atmosphere and there were lots of people standing around looking at photographs and drinking boxed wine. There was a darkroom door, but we didn’t know if it was decoration or not. So, we gave it a twirl and it opened up into the loveliness that is photos 2-5. LOVED IT.

It turns out it’s a place where local photographers can rent studio time and attend classes. If you are in the area and interested, I saw on their website that they are accepting interns. I haven’t found out if the darkroom is for rent or not yet, but hopefully soon! I can think of nothing funner than finally being able to develop again.

Have a lovely Monday evening, I have a surprise for you tomorrow.

5 19 2013: guest post

Hello you guys, Emily has asked me to guest post for her, and how could I say no? I'm Kati and blog over at Almost Stylish where I share my outfits, DIY ideas, recipes and all things that make daily life beautiful. Today, I'm going to share some things that make me a happy camper!

Riding. I've been riding for many, many years now, and it still doesn't loose any of its magic to me. I love being outdoors, working with the horses and doing all the stable chores.

picture taken by Patrick Müßiggang

Food. I know this one might be obvious as anyone likes food, but it really does make me happy. Sitting in front of a big bowl of pasta when you are really hungry is the best thing!

New fabric. Shopping for fabric is a very good thing in my eyes and makes me very happy!

Aidan. My boyfriend is my favourite person and he certainly does make me happy. I took this picture on a trip to the north of Germany and for some reason, I really like it!

Cats. Oh, how do I love thee! They are cute, cuddly, furry and just the best pets ever. A cat makes a life complete. Full stop.

I would be delighted if you hopped over to my little corner of the Internet, Almost Stylish, and told me what makes YOU happy!
